UptownGirl : There's really not a lot on their menu, but I'll still try it. I always like to try new restaurants.

There is a food truck on Roman Forrest Blvd. I like the fried catfish and shrimp. I wish I lived closer now I'm craving fried catfish

We just went to Conroe ti meet friends to eat fried catfish at Vernon Country Catfish on FM 105. A long drive for catfish but it was rather good.

It it Bayou City Swamp? They have good food, and good prices, too. Do check their Yelp page, as they are closed a couple days a week, but worth finding a day they are open.

We haven't been to Vernon's in years. I completely forget about them. They are closer to us. I always loved going when they served chicken and dumplings

It's still pretty good. we went about 2 years ago on a little road trip to the area. Relaxing spot to eat, nice staff, too.

We ate there and will not go back. No shrimp gumbo, the chicken and sausage gumbo tasted ok but it was 15 dollars and it wasn't a very big bowl. I also found a chicken thigh bone in it. My wife ordered the 6 broiled shrimp and asked to change the fries for beans and rice. That was a two dollar up charge. It was a small bowl and had a large bone in it and we have no idea what it was but it took up a big portion of the small bowl. I also ordered garlic toast for my gumbo. It was not on the menu but the price was 5 dollars for three small pieces. No tartar or cocktail sauce was given to my wife and the forks and spoon didn't arrive until the meal was put on the table. The tea was ok and 3 dollars which is about normal these days. I know the restaurant business is tough but it must be fair for the customers also.
