LocalBizNet :
I moved to Kingwood in 1997 and into my current house in 1998. I've lived in the Houston metropolis since 1969 and well remember when Kingwood was developed as the first master planned community in the area.

Moved there in '79 with my folks. Had various jobs while on summer breaks from SHSU: lifeguard at South Woodland Hills pool and YMCA Day Camp counselor.

I sure miss Kingwood.....

My family moved here in 2004 from Los Angeles. I HATED it. Fast forward to the present and there's no where else I'd rather raise my family.

#msg5929369cbear : Yes! I used to take my kids there when they were younger.

LocalBizNet : It was a cool place and as I said, we really need something along these lines for the youth of Kingwood. All we have are greenbelt trails and the Movie theatre.

Summer 1976. Prior to Woodland Hills Apartments being built. Steak N Ale was main restaurant in Humble (Blue Marlin on Humble side of San Jacinto). Kingwood Drive stopped at Country Club. Log Cabin in 59 was hopping back then. Will Clayton was previously named Jetero Blvd.

LocalBizNet :
I was in 8th grade in a nearby county, and my dad, grandfather and I drove over for the grand opening of Kingwood. My grandad was very 'honest' you could say, and never held his opinion. One of his first comments as we rode around KW was: 'There won't be enough roads. They're going to need more'...and here we are!
