What are your thoughts for data centers?

They are spreading like hot cakes at waffle house. Seriously, our apartment was a mile away and some people living close by are complaining about the 24/7 humming, dizziness, nausea, headaches, and getting no sleep.
My questions are, why are they putting them adjacent to neighborhoods, and why are they putting them where resources are scarce? Also, why are they pushing the water and electricity costs onto the homeowners?
I remember when computers needed clean rooms, the desks made to hold computer towers. None of those are needed now. Some won't be finished until 2036 I believe they said. Will they be obsolete by then, and will we have massive acres of dead buildings like the empty strip malls? So many more questions, but it's 4am, lol.

Donnawisdom : The plan is for US to pay for them through escalated prices… but of course…🙄

There is a lot of concern regarding the possible Space X semiconductor plant being in early development in Grimes County. My close friend lives in the area and is thrilled (!) for the added jobs etc. But it's not near his house!

e : As long as they have their own power source, I'm fine with data centers. We can't afford to have them powered by our unreliable power grid.
