If it's for trips to and from the hospital for medical appts, their insurance may cover transportation.

Oh! That's excellent. I didn't know. I have never used Uber or Lyft.

As
Definitely check that drivers photo ID!
A friend ordered one to the airport and she didn't check and it wasn't the driver. He wouldn't let her out of the car until she gave him cash!
(The Uber driver actually called her and told her she was in the wrong car.)
Luckily she started calling 911 and he pulled over and let her out.

Sounds like her first mistake was not matching the vehicle picture and license plate to the car she decided to get into.
It was a ride from her home to a hotel near the airport where a private bus was taking us to the cruise port. She just made it to the bus in time. The guy somehow got access to the app
They think he was a former driver.

On Lyft, you can also choose to have women drivers, if you are more comfortable with them. They also have a program called "Lyft Silver" for seniors, and when you download their app, they often send you discount codes, for your rides. There is a section called "Safety Hub", where you can choose to share your location, verify rides with a pin number, schedule for the app to check that you arrived safely, and more. Lyft prices are usually lower, for me. One way to save is to plan well, and choose a little longer wait time ( instead of 10 minutes, choose, say, 20 minute wait time). I have taken rides to airports at 4 am, and with all of this in place, have always felt secure on rides.
