Tachus Internet Was Acquired by Private Equity

I don't know about Kingwood, but a company called Brightspeed dug up the neighbors backyard and took down a few boards to access the box in my backyard. This was within the past year. I spoke with the guys and it's another fiber company. I've never received a single mailer from them either.

Whatsup I would be more concerned with what Infinity said when they came through here a year ago and met with many at the HOA meeting in TW. You can look all you want at the PE firm but as I said a long time ago, the rates were going to come done and that the customer service was going to stay the same. The other companies that the PE firm has are in other various sectors and doing well with customer service as one of their main focuses. They also have something in the electric delivery side too, which could make for a nice bundle of services down the road. Preferred EZEE fiber customers get a discount on electric rates, now that could be something. Not saying this is happening but could be an interesting option. Haven't seen anyone doing this and would be an interesting concept. Tachus and Infinity were the two majors who came in here and did construction and put lines in. They both did a good job in managing the projects and and I think Tachus did the better day to day management of problems that occurred but that is my opinion.Back to the HOA meeting and also what eighteen may have been referring to in a previous post. The Infinity guys said that there were 2-4 other fiber companies looking at putting lines in and they don't have to be as nice as what Tachus and Infinity were. They can come in and do have that right to come in and "mess up" your easement. My guess is that EZEE fiber was maybe going to be one of them, but figured "buying" all of the Kingwood area would just be less of an overall headache and that could be one off the list of 2-4 new ones in your backyard. I wouldn't be worrying about if you don't have a lifelong rate in 5 years, I would be checking in with your HOA to see if you might have any more boxes coming to your backyard that you will have to stay clear of and try to decorate around them.ExCtGuyinTX Since you are the resident HOA guy. have you heard anything about others coming into the area. I heard this at a TW meeting with the construction manager VP from Infinity when he was in the area. Wasn't 3rd person, was direct. He did not name companies though.

It's like the RV camp in PA that people had a lifetime agreement for their RV parking pad. The people invested thousands of dollars to add many upgrades to the property only to have the owner sell it out from under them promising their contracts would be honored.
Guess what? They all got eviction notices!

It's 5-10 execs who are all making 7-9 figures gutting and flipping companies.There's no legal recourse against Tachus, you gave that up when you failed to revoke the arbitration clause 30 days post signature

But the question is…….we decided just today to switch from Optimum to Tachus……then saw this minutes later……..…are we better off switching or we just all screwed?

After we installed Tachus, we tried to get rid of Suddenlink/Optimum but kept them after they gave us a bargain basement rate to stay. Since we telecommuted, we kept them both as backup. And sure enough, we have switch back and forth as Tachus has become more unreliable.Suddenlink was bought several years ago by a privately owned French conglomerate Optimum that manages their companies by squeezing every penny out of each company they own.Xfinity looks better and better every day.

We had Comcast/Xfinity come through MBV about 9 months ago.
They went on the easements in the rear of the properties. They left a bit of a mess in some areas. They broke a few concrete trail panels. I tried to get them to repair them, but they ghosted me as it was a contractor they hired that did it.

SteveT : We had "Brightspeed" install fiber in our area earlier this year. Have not received an offering from them yet; I expect it will initially be better than Tachus'.

WhatsUp : Not so. The 'pricing for life' is still a thing.

Ruger5 : You're fine with Tachus. We've had them for 3 years and have only had a couple of outages, usually caused by someone cutting the line.

I was surprised that they sold the company to them! Weren't they making enough money? I thought the whole point of this company was to give us a great service at a good price.
I guess while we were being loyal to them they were selling us out!

I heard about the new offers from Tachus if you called in to request the change. I did this morning. They answered the phone with a live person within 15 seconds, looked up my account, and offered to upgrade my speed from 300mb to 1G for the same price of $65/month, which is guaranteed for life. She said they were a bit busy today, but I would probably see the change by this afternoon. I've never had a problem with them in 4 years; other than when other companies cut their lines during construction. Don't assume the worst…they are night and day better than CenturyLink.
