Yep. My mom doesn't live far so we go to her house if it's been more than 2 hours since she has a generator.

Very normal- I lived there for 21 years and I can't remember a time where the power didn't go out or surge at least once a week.
When we moved to AZ I asked my realtor if we should bring our generator and surge protectors, and he said "Why??"
lol so we sold the generator to our neighbors and brought the surge protectors and they are still in a box

The only way to minimize outages is to buy a generator...

Butt3rfly : At my house it happens once or twice a month. Sometimes less. More if you count all the little very short outages that last no longer then a few minutes. Sometimes, the lights flicker and we get knocked off line if the wind blows and I don't count those. But, my neighbors across the street are out a lot for hours at a time.

Mostly caused by fried squirrels and day drinkers. Some caused by people who plant trees under power lines and complain when CP or GSU wants to trim them before the wind blows the branches and lines into each other. Figure on short outages several times a month.

HA! Yes, even on a perfectly nice, sunny day. I'm in Kings Forest, and the electric lines run along the greenbelt where a tree or branch can fall on them. Also, our whole infrastructure is pretty old now. After Hurricane Helene last summer Centerpoint did all this PR, claiming they would be strengthening the system, but I was out 11 hours last Saturday and 5 hours on Wednesday.
