You can get a license at HEB. Kids are free till about 16 I believe it is. You can download the Texas Outdoor Annual. It provides regulations, size limits, photos, and locations. The site also provides both fresh and saltwater fishing reports on a weekly basis. If you go to Galveston there is Seawolf Park, in Texas City there is the Texas City Dike where you can drive all five miles along the dike, park your car, and fish right next to you car. There is another place close by called Anahuac Park. Enjoy and happy he enjoys fishing. Before you know it he will want to learn how to fly fish.

Download the Texas Outdoor Annual app. You can purchase the license on there, you will get proof to show Game Warden if asked and they will mail you the licenses. There is also all kinds of info on places to fish and fishing tips. You will also get email reminders to renew.

As a kid, I always enjoyed fishing at the beach, because I caught something almost every cast. At a lake, I enjoyed fishing off a boat better than the shore, because we would move around and find the fish. I'd make sure to bring along a set of fishing pliers for when a hook gets stuck. I think part of fishing is learning to respect and have empathy towards your catch, and to get it safely off the hook and back into the water without damaging its mouth. The Texas Outdoor Annual will help you know your catch limits, size requirements, whether your fish is a keeper, a protected species, etc. You can purchase your fishing license online at tpwd.texas.gov/busin ess/licenses/online_ sales or in person at Academy or Walmart.
