Dear Kingwood High School Families, This morning, a bomb threat was emailed to myself and members of the administration team of Kingwood High School. The email came from an anonymous email account. Humble ISD Police and the Houston Police Department were immediately notified. Later in the morning, we received a second bomb threat email from the same account. We are collaborating with partner law enforcement agencies to trace the origination of the email
account. The administration team, Humble ISD Police and the Houston Police Department Bomb Squad
searched the interior and exterior of our campus. No credible threat was found and the Houston
Police Department gave the all-clear. I want to commend the Humble ISD Police Department and Houston Police Department Bomb Squad for their quick action in clearing our campus
of the threat. Authorities are continuing to investigate who sent the email. Issuing a threat is a crime. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact a school administrator, Humble ISD Police (281-641-7900) or
use the Humble ISD iHELP app. Please continue to encourage your children to report any safety concerns. By working in
partnership, we keep our school safe. Today is our Safety Day on campus. The message

These kids are normalizing these threats. I'm concerned that eventually a threat will just be brushed off
Back in the 80s in Humble ISD, kids would call in bomb threats to get out of tests. Every single time, we were led out to the parking lot to wait until the police cleared the school... regardless of freezing cold or sweltering heat. After 9/11, it's now a terroristic threat charge. And, 40 years later Humble ISD still takes them seriously. So, no, it won't become normalized and ignored.

It was a huge deal when I was in school because I went to Poe Elementary school in Houston a couple years after they had a bomber. Crazy guy with bomb strapped to him-intent on setting it off in the school-principal started talking to him and kept encouraging him to walk with her so she could understand his beef til they were way out on the playground. Then he set it off and killed himself and seriously injured the principal but no kids were hurt. But all kids in area knew about it for years to come so even when in high school if the word bomb was said, we were all scared and evacuated the buildings.
Does anyone remember the pipe bomb at Elm Grove Elementary? My children went to St Martha's but the neighbor kids had to go to the then repurposed elementary school by Charles Street Stadium. That pipe bomb caused school to be closed the whole year for repair.

Today's culture is so different; it is amazing how quickly it changed. A few decades ago all the high school guys drove pickups with guns hanging in the back window and truck left unlocked with windows down and there was never a thought of harming another person. How did we change so much in one lifetime?
