In my opinion not completely. It mentions but does not explore fully the impact of mixed families' exodus. Maybe they are right. Maybe I am. My pessimism about the approaching Trust fund depletion snd benefits cuts was right. Not in 33, in 32. They came to my conclusion this year. I said it last.
There are competing views. The Trust Fund rrustees, and everyone tat cares to opine,. There is one underlying agreement. Yhe immigration policy be I ng pursued is harmful. Deegree is where the debate is occurring. I don't see KHS and KPHS kiddos eanting to work in the sectors adding jobs.

That is a very good thing to mention actually, I worked with someone for a short time when I was younger and unless the homeowner asked for a receipt, taxes were not paid .... repeatedly. Coming from a family run business that paid their taxes without fail for ALL of what we brought in, I found that really wrong.

I share your pessimism; I just distrust the validity of the original study. Thank you.

Here's one example of what I am alluding to:
trump's immigration crackdown is affecting more than illegal immigrants. It is affecting those with legal status being revoked--and deported. That population is clearly paying taxes. And they tend to hold lower-paying jobs. There is not a surplus of workers willing to step in to those vacant jobs, so many go unfilled. So less taxes being collected.

So this is slightly off the point of the vast amount of taxes being paid by illegal immigrants.

This is my cause because I have family members living it. Right now.
I understand the mechanics of illegal immigrants paying taxes but not being able to collect benefits, but I do think the numbers look high.

I am trying to make the point that this immigrant crackdown has far-reaching implications with respect to government coffers.

That is what I mean by not black and white.

Please share the studies you are referencing. I do not feel the links between illegal immigration or immigration and social security going bust are as strong as some are saying. For one, I do not believe that the studies that have been done are nearly comprehensive enough. Have they really had the funding or the desire to do this to where they can actually speak the truth. I do believe "studies" to polarize us all are being done ... a lot ... by both (all) sides.
What studies are you referring to? I want to see what work has been done in earnest on this; if for no other reason than to appreciate some solid research by truly unbiased folks.

#msg6028340Points to ponder: "Long-Term Net Benefit Liabilities: Critics argue that while unauthorized workers pay into payroll taxes now, those who eventually achieve legal status or retire will claim benefits, creating a long-term liability that outweighs their initial contributions.

I just meant I dont disagree with the quoted premise, but I wonder if the numbers arent pretty negligible. Wont offset the original point of illegal immigrants paying taxes and not collecting benefits.

Just curious:
I have family affected by this.
Is this a personal issue for you as well?

one of the counterarguments was that if wages increase because places have to pay Americans than that higher pay will be deducted from and the other counterargument was that if immigrants do stay and become legal then they will be able to get Social Security. The statement that " they pay in but don't take out" is so simplistic that any study using it as an argument does not sound based on what will actually happen on a large scale.
Sorry, how is your family affected? How many years have they paid in and are not being able to get anything out? Do you have many family members like this because, of course, the multiplying effect is always at work .. lol. One of the problems with this study in my opinion is that it doesn't sound comprehensive enough to be valid. I am curious as to how Rapsalot is going to respond because he is going off of other studies that I would like to see.

Darla897 :
The they pay in but not take is easily verifiable. It is simplistic to ignore yhe actual numbers. That simplstic to uou notion led to the SS brnefit cut changin g from 33 to 32. Sheesh Marie.

Can you list your more reputable sources please? Saying the same thing and acting frustrated is only being rude. I am willing to read the sources that you claim are better. I would like to know how they were conducted because I feel the counterarguments made (which were very easy to generate) are worthy of consideration.
Now you are just kicking but I asked for what you said was "better". I want to see "better".
