#msg6019648v1kings28 : Definitely a copperhead. Scoop it out with pool net and throw it in the greenbelt.

buffaloglenn : Paint a fluorescent stripe on it first so I don't accidentally step on it when I'm on my walk! Please!

UptownGirl :
Oh I 100% agree with you on the snakes. I don't do snakes, scorpions, or bugs. That snake would be unrecognizable when I got done with it if I found it in my pool for sure.

#msg6019598eighteen : I relocated him far away from the pool thanks

v1kings28 : You are much kinder than I would have been. First, get the shovel from the garage. 2nd, fish him out and set him on the ground and wham with the shovel 3rd, run like hell for the house!

While copperheads are not considered territorial (they don't defend their territory) they do tend to stay in their "neighborhood". Sorry, those things are venomous and I would hate for someone else to get bitten. If you cannot take it far away, sorry, I would have to make sure it wasn't a problem in the future. Emoticon

#msg6019565Snake in pool   Looks small, copperhead?

v1kings28 :
We get the occasional snake in the pool. Haven't had a copperhead yet, however we had a couple of water moccasins that scare the $#!+ out of me.

We had a ~6 ft water moccasin curled up in the dark corner in the yard. The puppy went crazy but kept her distance. I tried to capture it with the pool net like yours. It got really aggressive. Then it regurgitated something and got even nastier. After several attempts I finally got it and put it out in the bayou. I took its half-digested frog and put it out there. I checked the next day, no snake and no frog.

I had a large water moccasin in my back yard a few years ago. Maybe 5 feet. Very aggressive. I did NOT catch and release. Putting him the in green space behind my yard, I was concerned that someone else may run in to him as there are a lot of kids and joggers running through. Emoticon
