Attention KW Birders:

Had a female Summer Tanager in my backyard. Migration has started.

AND... the hummers are doing their acrobatics! Counted 6 at one time. 😊

Lantern :
How awesome. Love your pics. Hopefully they will visit our backyard feeders. We have mealworms, safflower seeds, mixed seeds, and suet.

I was just finishing refreshing the hummer feeder when a hummer buzzed me. As soon as the feeder was back on the shepherd's hook two hummers were fighting over it with me only three feet away!

Sorry to put you on the spot, but that is ridiculous! There are rats out there, whether we feed birds or not. I live backed up to a ditch and there is no telling how many critters are behind my fence. I am not skeered! LOL!

I've never been into bird watching, but a few seasons back, DH and I heard a very different bird sound. We would sit out on the patio and wait to hear it, recorded and researched it. Turned out to be a nearby bald eagle. I think the quest to find out what it was half the fun. Now when sitting out, we listen for it and stop our conversation when we hear it.

I never was into birds either. When my husband was well, he carved birds from wood and even cast them in bronze with the help of a foundry. His skills as a dentist gave him a foundation to do this. Now that I am retired I really enjoy the birds and squirrels in my back yard.
Eagles are such majestic birds. I have not heard one in my back yard. You are lucky. Do you have the Merlin App?
