Butler was so set against my generator. Little did he realize how often we would use it. But a generator is not cheap by any means.
Guess what Kingwood had even more trees 20 years ago and you know what.... we didn't lose power like this. It's not trees. Its about management and insufficient infrastructure for the amount of power used. Centerpoint is getting paid don't worry about that. They need to take some amount of their profit to maintain their product that we pay for!

I went into TJ Max yesterday around 3 and the power was out but lights on and open. Just no cash registers. It came back on eventually.

Crazy that a grocery store in Houston wouldnt have a backup generator, especially a new store but maybe their insurance works better without it(i.e. they are covered by an act of God but not poor maintenance on equipment)

Me too. I am glad they are being proactive and throwing out everything and not taking any chances!
I spoke with some folks there since we showed up right when the power came back on. It was off less than 6 hours, but as a precautionary policy, they made the decision to pull everything refrigerated. I had to laugh a little. I know that when that has happened at Aldi, they just kept selling it.
I also think they were not informed about how horrible the electric service in for this area. So many outages this week without severe weather. Center Point should be alerting businesses when they are doing routine work though.

Entergy cut our power to do work on the pole in our yard. No notification that they were scheduled to come by. Just cut the power and proceeded to take off all old "fixtures" and install upgraded ones. Took about an hour. There is also a CenterPoint pole about 10 feet away from it, but not on my property. CenterPoint came by and shut power off (that work didn't affect me) and proceeded to trim the tree next to it, about 30 minutes. Entergy worked on all the poles on our street. These activities may explain the random power outages in the area. Would have been nice to have a heads up though.
Jeepinbear and Txbutterfly reacted I am getting tired of the same old incompetence over and over . Thunderstorms, rain, power goes out , sunshine not a leaf moves ,power goes out...where are all the promises that Centerpoint's big shuts made last time they messed up.? They are ruining people's appliances with the 5 second ,3 minutes or lengthy power outages...but they are so gallantly making it clear that they are not responsible for any damages...are they responsible for anything?
I think it's time to take some action ,if they are not capable to keep their customers happy maybe it's time to step aside and let someone who can take over.
Since the hurricanes damages in Kingwood people live with the constant anxiety of flooding, power outage and damages that are messing up their lives...can they make up for that?
I don't think so,things have to change and fast.
Does anyone agree?

Yes I agree. I know I have PTSD from my car getting almost flooded out here in KW 3x within 2 years and having to ditch my car on higher ground and wade through knee deep water to get home. Every time we get the chance of flooding torrential rain my anxiety goes through the roof.

#msg5922337acteon : Yes I agree. I was talking to my friend that lives out here in my subdivision and we were talking about when the centerpoint was here and I was saying you remember when our power would be out two or three times a week sometimes four times a week because they were improving it. I said they did that for about a month. She said no they did it for about 2 1/2 months and yes, I remember that we couldn't work from home for a few months because you didn't know when the power would go out. That's just unacceptable.

#msg5922395sweetie : Agree, they have to take responsibility and not just by telling us what we want to hear but actually doing something about the situation that keeps repeating endlessly.
