#msg5919187So are you in school, work? Maybe make friends there. A church can be a good place to join a group.

I am very close to graduation! Have made a couple friends recently, but many are still presenting finals.
Seven or ten years do not feel like a big generational gap, but rest assured my generation was probably the last one to graduate HS without the help of AI and actually touched grass a d greeted people when entering a room.
And sadly, I would prefer to not join any religious group, since I am unable to keep up with either activities or status. I am a devout Christian (Catholic) but I have found more closeness to God in prayer since I left religious groups. I know, sus

Personally, I have seen almost none. I stay a lot of time at home. Then Kingwood HEB and then Kroger close to Mills Branch. But you are right I have read about lots of weird happenings both on here and on Next-door...

>> But my social life is very limited!
gato : Be out and about, and look pleasantly approachable. Speak to people you happen to be next to, in class or in line or listening to a speaker. I met someone who happened to sit next to me in an auditorium and who became a friend after I commented on what her t-shirt said. I have two grandchildren in their mid-twenties, a boy and a girl, who say they aren't around enough eligible people to even meet someone to date. College is supposed to be a great place for meeting people to date and possibly later marry. It was for dh and me. But somehow both graduated without having anyone beyond family to celebrate that occasion with. My granddaughter went into a career field where there are far more women than men, and the men she does meet where she works are already married. She entered a small graduate program in the same field -- and only women happened to enroll. Meeting someone at work can be great. That's how my dd#2 (mother of the two above) met her husband. They both worked for the same large oil company, just at different locations. Their company had regular meetings that included people from several company locations, and they had to be at those meetings. They became friends from being at those company meetings -- and now have a good life together that includes their four children. (Younger two of their children are still in college but apparently not dating anyone, either.) Overall, keep your phone put away and don't look anxious or stressed about whatever is on your mind. Look relaxed and pleasantly approachable. Small talk is good.

#msg5919027I have never hated more in my life not being 55+. Kingwood is the only place that does that to me. At least I know i will not die here from a random shooting and nobody will blast music while i try to sleep 🤷🏻♀️
Honestly, haven't been this happy in more than fourty years and it's since I moved from Kingwood into the city. It's quieter for the most part. I don't have to worry about maintaining the property. Closer to medical services that won't kill me, financially break me, or both like Kingwood HCA. I've not been social really in close to a decade anyhow. Literally don't have to drive. Problems will find you where ever you go but, in my case they've been more manageable here. It took some getting use to the fact the power hasn't gone out or even flickered here. As for the nine lives bit, in reality I have died briefly three times in Kingwood and come back. I decided that was enough because I'm not sure how many times I get before I cash out. For me, Kingwood is a nice place to visit but I am happier here near museums, various books stores, libraries, and the zoo. That's just me, to each their own. Oh, and less concerned about the weather here too.

Oh, and here's a picture of my friends cat. She's nearly twenty. (Not joking) The cat is nearly twenty not the friend. Thought I should clarify.
