Chow :
But don't take advantage of them bc they will leave you a note. 🤣
One of my neighbors who were renting decided to move out and threw all kinds of crap out there when they moved. It looked like a yard sale gpne wrong. They took what they could but left most of it bc they just didn't follow the rules. They piled tree cutting at the curb without even cutting or bundling. Ugh. Scrubs lol

#msg5912142Donnawisdom : It's not for us I guess. I'm paying $250 a year now for the private pick up, but the city doesn't get any of that. I just had an alarming thought they wanted it from all of us. It's simply another tax. Why should we skate out of it lol. And, the HOA gets a kick back from COH for NOT using their trash services. $12 per home.

MissAmericanPie :
It's not a 'kickback'. It is a subsidy that COH grants to any subdivisions who opt of COH garbage collection.
I know that in MBV, it's $6 per month per household.
Where did you get $12? Is that just a guess?
I've had conversations with the previous COH Solid Waste Director, and he mentioned that the subsidies will more than likely be going away in the future. This was in the works about 2 years ago or so.
What does this mean for subdivisions that get a subsidy? Uncountably it will be an increase of $6 per month or $18 per quarter to your bill for private garbage disposal.

#msg5912127Mayor Whitmire to propose a trash fee to bring in more dollars. $5 a month starting next year, then $10 a month the next year with scheduled regular increases. So much for free trash pick up to those with COH services They don't mention those of us paying for private trash pick up. I assume this does not include us? www.click2houston.co m/news/local/2026/05 /04/why-houstons-may or-says-a-new-t

MissAmericanPie : no it does not include you. But we already pay a lot for trash pick up in Forest Cove

#msg5912519cbear : My sister has COH and she hates it. She recently learned they will no longer have large trash pick up every month. Instead, they will have it 4 times a year and have to call in to have it picked up. Best trash is great!

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Oh I didn't know about the 4 times per year thing. Better tell my DD. Thanks.

ExCTGuyInTX : I read that on the neighborhood site from a former board member, I can't confirm but I don't doubt they know.

myopinions4me : No option except by the HOA's . They decide on whether you go COH or private pick up.
In a wonderful world, I would think residents might get to vote….but it doesn't always happen.
At any rate, the money should go to the consumer.

MissAmericanPie :
You elected the HOA Board Members much the way you vote for city council, congress, senate who make the decisions. Your 'vote' for what was going to be done was when you voted for those members.

Yes, and you might not like everything they do. Or any of it. That's the real world.
