Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center offers Harris County residents one of
the south's finest facilities for nature education and passive recreation.
Natural beauty and history are combined in this 225-acre park located along
the banks of Spring Creek. Explore diverse ecosystems including ancient
cypress bogs, natural white sand beaches, and wildflower patches. Five
miles of all-weather nature trails and boardwalks are wheelchair and
stroller accessible. The center features a variety of displays and exhibits
including a collection of live and taxidermic native wildlife.

The park is home to authentic reproductions of an 1830s homestead, called
Redbud Hill Homestead, and an Akokisa Indian Village. Jones Park staff and
volunteers offer a variety of guided tours and free programming ranging
from history to the environmental benefits of this natural setting. Two
major festivals, Pioneer Day in the fall, and Texas Heritage Day in the
spring, offer a glimpse into the lives of Akokisa Indians and Texas
settlers, with costumed living-history re-enactors and demonstrations of
woodworking, blacksmithing, cooking, and other survival skills needed in
the early 1800s.
