 Letter of Reference I first learned of Bruce Sommers and Ashworth Design through an internet search I did while living in Doha, Qatar. My husband and I were contemplating the purchase of a rather distressed property across the street from my parents in a suburb of Houston, Texas and we were looking for a designer that could advise of us on the possibilities for rehabilitating the house. I was impressed with Ashworth Design's website and the before and after photos of their previous projects. It was clear that Bruce understood the aesthetics of a house and could seamlessly create an addition that looked as if it were original to the home rather than a clunky, disjointed add on. It was clear from the start that Bruce "got it". I wanted someone who could understand our needs as a family of six, the technical aspects of taking a poorly constructed '60s house into the modern era, and, above all, good design principles that would make the finished product beautiful. His choices from flooring to lighting fixtures were spot on and minimized the work we had to do while living 8000 miles away. Meanwhile, Jason Sommers was amazing in facilitating communication through video conferences and virtual mocks ups of the finished house. We put enormous faith in the team at Ashworth Design to create a home for us while we lived outside the US and we were not disappointed. I think our satisfaction and the number of cars that routinely slow down while passing in order to get a better look testify to the success of the Ashworth Design team. Many people can build a house, but few can create that charming, one-of-a-kind jewel of the neighborhood home that catches the eye.
