The symposium is intended for distance-learning faculty from around the region.
The event will feature distance-learning experts from universities and colleges across the state of Texas and will focus on e-learning theories, innovations and technologies.
"We're excited to be able to host this event that will feature some of the most well-known professionals in this industry," said Nita Shiro, lead instructional technologist, LSC-Online.
Keynote speaker for the symposium is Dr. Darcy Hardy, assistant vice chancellor for executive affairs and executive director of the University of Texas TeleCampus. There will also be a special guest presentation by Ray Henderson, the recently-appointed president of Blackboard Learn. Breakout session presentations and panel discussions from a variety of additional experts will be offered throughout the day.
This day-long schedule of learning is targeted toward those interested in learning the latest trends and opportunities for enhancing the success of students - distance-learning administrators, faculty, designers and specialists; Web course developers; and continuing education professionals.
The conference agenda is posted on the LSC-Online website at: http://LoneStar.edu/lsc-online.
The e-Learning Symposium will be held at LSC-University Park, on Thursday, Nov. 12 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is available online.
LSC-Online recently offered a $500 student scholarship online and because of the overwhelming response, officials plan to offer an additional scholarship based on the registration at the e-Learning Symposium - a portion of the registration proceeds will be used for an additional $500 student scholarship.
