From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, October 22) the Houston Police Department will host a prescription drug collection site for the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The DEA will have containers available at locations throughout the Houston area to help the public properly dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medications.  All tablets, capsules and solid dosage forms will be collected (intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted).Residents can drop off prescription drugs in Kingwood at the Metro Park & Ride (3210 W. Lake Houston Parkway). For more information or to find a nearby collection site, go to www.dea.gov/index.sh tmlThis service is FREE, anonymous, and open to everyone!  4951

Do not throw away expired drugs. I'm sorry, but they keep a lot longer than expiration date. Not bad to have on hand in a pinch. Put them in the fridge. Or give any and all antibiotics to me! I'll gladly take them. Just saying! 4951

@MarT:  I took ambien for a short period.  It caused me to sleep-walk and have weird dreams, so I stopped using it.  This is a good service.  Sometimes, I get put on a prescription and then the doc changes it before I've used them all.
