Just dawned on me that my dad would have been 100 today. Wow. He had such a wonderful life. Born in China in 1916 where he lived, learned to speak Chinese and ride horses at the Forbidden City among other things. Went to boarding school in England and after that took a job with a lumber company in London that sent him to Finland for a year to learn the lumber business from the forest camps where the wood cutters lived. Back in England when Hitler invaded Poland, he rode his bicycle 16 miles to enlist, my grandparents were furious. Because he spoke Chinese he was sent to Burma with MI-5 British Intelligence but Burma fell to the Japanese before he got there so was sent on to Kunming, China where eventually made it to the rank of Major. Met my mother who was in the OSS Detachment 101 and they married after the war. Always well dressed and well read and an active tennis player into his mid 80's. What a life. Miss him. 4951

Good to focus on good memories. They are just another of God's gifts to those deserving something special. 4951
