Well, maybe not here but in other parts of the country were the weather changes and they have lots of hardwoods with colorful leaves. This was a grab shot while visiting my son and his family in Pennsylvania last September. We were driving in a state park and I saw the stream as we crossed a bridge. I pulled over  and took off with my camera and a little tripod, my wife has gotten used to me doing things like this! 4951

This really is my favorite time of year. Too bad it only lasts for a few weeks. 4951

My trail running/hiking friends in WA take plenty of opportunities to rub it in, though I look at it as living vicariously through them now.  This was taken this week in the Sawtooth Mt. range, near Lake Chelan in central WA.  The golden larches are just brilliant to see in the fall, especially in the early morning with a little frost around - pictures do them little justice.  Some day, again...

@Analogkid. My brother's family spent a few weeks on the Pacific Crest Trail, their pictures were amazing. 4951

@MarT: Nice!  Which section(s)?  I've hiked WA/OR border to Canadian border over three years.  Could never manage enough time off to do it all at once.

@Analogkid. They started close to the Canadian border and made it about 90 miles total. Niece was going to do the whole thing but made it a couple of weeks and quit. My nephew and brother carried on for another 20 miles, but brother got hurt. The pictures were spectacular! 4951

@MarT: Canadian border southward through the North Cascades is some of the most rugged part of the PCT.  Especially so depending on the time of year.  Arguably though, some of the most scenic as well.  Even 90 miles makes for some great memories.

It looked amazing, very rugged. Niece is very sweet and felt embarrassed she didn't complete it which is so silly. 4951

@MarT: That's too bad; a couple of weeks is more than a lot of people ever do in their lifetime.  It definitely takes getting the psyche ready for the challenge and one has to be very motivated to push on day-after-day.  I love reading about the thru-hikers after their completion.  A lot to be learned by doing this.

This is my favorite place on the world. The duck pond at mill creek park in youngstown, ohio. Just absolutely breathtaking this time of year
