My husband has been trying to get in for his PTSD for over 7 months now. Every time he goes they tell him they didn't have him scheduled but they would be more then happy to reschedule him. Next appt time...6 weeks out. They don't give him a choice they just mail him a letter with their choice of date and time and this time it was for his birthday. If not on his birthday in late September the next appt they have is mid October. This is absurd. Any one have any advice? 4951

Its the VA. My dad had full benefits and the misdiagnosed leading to his death. I don't trust the VA. If you are able to get insurance that covers ptsd I would go that route. 4951

Beginning to wonder if people in general are just permanently unhappy.

Where's the positive reviews of places, companies, products, businesses, or just general everyday stuff?

Where are the shout outs to KDC friends?

Where are the thanks for posts?

Is life really that boring or upsetting all the time, where there is nothing but complaint after complaint after complaint?

I'm beginning to wonder while I SMH, once again. 4951

My husband goes to the Conroe VA and hasn't ever ran into any issues see Dr. Nixon.  Has he tried calling the Conroe office directly? 4951

@angiekaye: My Dad and The Hubs are both vets and they have always gone to civilan doctors and hospitals when needed, under private insurance. While in the service they went to DOD medical facilities because they had to.

@angiekaye: Maybe the VA is free of charge but I would much rather pay and get "on demand" care as needed.

I have said a hundred times we need news stations that report all the great things that go on.  I would like to believe that the majority of people are happy.  Unfortunately, whether you are standing in line at your favorite grocery store or pharmacy reading magazine covers or you are tuned in to your local or national news you are inundated with negative words or images.  Very easy to become jaded. So many great things go on in our Communities far and wide and we only hear those stories when the news has a few seconds of air time to spare. Why don't we change that?  Why don't we start with Super Sunday on KDC and fill the pages with all positive threads?  Let's give it a shot! 4951

And just to add. I think this is what needs to change. people on welfare and the others on Medicaid or Medicare can go to any dr. Our vets need the same and drs all over should accept that

Wow I just got my talking point when meet Cruz 4951

So not true, lol. People on "welfare" (who even call is that anymore??), Medicare/Medicaid can't go to just any ol' doctor. It can be hard to find a doctor who will accept your insurance if you're on Medicaid or a marketplace plan. 4951

I have been going to the Houston VA for over twenty years and have received good care. I signed up and use the My Health Vet site. I can schedule appointments, refill scripts, download and print ALL my VA medical records, or sent messages to my PCP. You can do your own "Vitals and readings", like BP, weight and send it to the PCP.Here is the site www.myhealth.va.gov/ index.html I do not know if it includes the clinics. 4951

@TXSG: I think this entire "issue" is all about managing unrealistic expectations. Some people are unahppy and continuously complain about everything. 4951

He can go to an outside doctor but then if it is determined he needs a knee replacement it is on our dime because the VA won't accept that diagonsis unless he lives over 60 miles from the nearest clinic. Which yes, my insurance would cover most of the cost (it would only be about $1200 out of pocket) but then he wouldn't be paid for his time off work. Any medication he is prescribed we would have to pay for and if he does need a higher disability rating we would have to hire an attorney since they didn't diagnose him. At least this is my understanding. I would personally rather foot the $20 co pay on our insurance since his last appt the physiatrist skyped with him since "they didn't have him scheduled". Has anyone been to the office in Lufkin? I hear they are only 6 weeks out.@TXSG. That's awesome. I know my husband has logged in before but I don't think he knows he could do that. I will check it out tonight. 4951
