Hi! I am new to the message board.  Does anyone know a good dermatologist for a teenager with bad acne?  I prefer a doc who will pop zits as part of the treatment :-), since this worked for me as a kid.  Any info/help about the best dermatologists in this area would be appreciated.  TY! 4951

There are several recommendations in previous threads.  If you go up to the box and type in "dermatologist" and click search forum, you will find many great KW are recommendations.  Good luck to you! 4951

We have used Dr Smith as a dermatologist for several years.  We have been pleased with his care.As far as extractions for acne, take your child for a medical facial.  There is an aesthetician at Dr. Smith's office that does medical facials.  She is sometimes difficult to get an appointment with, but there are also other offices that do these facials.  It is very common among teenagers here in Kingwood.  4951

To summarize the 3 threads that people are referring to:Dr Smith 281-359-6000There are several PAs that work in his office and they are all pretty good.It is sometimes a longer wait to see Dr Smith, but seeing a PA may get you in to doctor faster.Good luck. 4951

Be sure to call soon. The back to school time always gets busy!

I don't know if OTC items are sufficient to help but our dermatologist suggested PanOxyl to my hubby to help with pimples on his back. It was sufficient to get them under control. 4951

My daughter goes to one of the PA's with Dr. Smith's office. She has cystic acne and we finally went there after trying proactive, antibiotics, and an aesthetician. It took a good 2 months to get in, but she was put on Accutane. She just finished up her 3rd month and is doing great. It's a bit of a pain going back every month for blood test but her acne was so bad we really had no other choice. If your child's acne is severe I would highly recommend a visit to the dermatologist as it has done wonders for my daughters acne and self esteem.  4951
