So my husband volunteered me to plan a golf outing for a professional organization he is a part of.  The event in is early October.  It has been going on for 7 years, but has not been very well organized or overly successful.  The man who was running it previously does not want to do it anymore, so my husband offered me up for it.  I need some ideas...The whole idea is that the outing is raising money for a scholarship that the organization gives out annually to a kid who wishes to pursue a career in a related field of study.  I need some ideas for ways to generate money.  Of course there is an entrance fee and we'll do your typical "longest drive, closest to the pin, mulligans, etc" type buyouts in the beginning, but I need some ideas on fun things companies can sponsor.  Maybe Margaritas at the 9th hole, or cigars at the 12th, perhaps Irish coffee with a customized mug at the 16th hole.  Koozies, tee-shirts, and balls, of course!  But what else can we do?  I want to make it fun, memorable, and a lot of money for the scholarship!  What have you guys seen/done at golf outings that made it great?  PS it's going to be great, so if you want to golf, let me know and I'll send you the info!  Emoticon 4951

You can do an auction while players eat. We did one where oak hurst is. The guys had a few drinks and the bidding began. They were
great bunch. We auctioned off a huge BBQ grill that was donated. We did an alcohol basket that different people donated bottle or two so basket was huge. Your club should donate free round of golf for 4 players, that goes good. Get businesses to sponsor the holes for a hundred each hole and you can have several sponsors on each hole, get their names on the holes with hole signs. You can get insurance for a hole in one for a car or trip. Good luck! It's a lot of fun.

Do not GIVE OUT alcohol - insurance nightmare if something were to happen. At least, that's my unprofessional advice. If you can pair up with an insurance company (specifically for these kind of things) and a company sponsor, you could do one or two, par-3 hole-in-one contests (they win a car, $10K, etc.). Eons ago, I works for a Chamber of Commerce and helped run an annual golf outing. We actually did have a winner of one of these one year - $10K! (More info: www.foresitesports.c om/hole-in-one-insur ance.htm)@sweetie is right, too - auction baskets are always a good idea!A good resource online I found:http://www.golffusion.com/wescottgolf/club_info/club_documents/wescottgolf/Wescott_Outings_Planner.pdfAnd then proper Marketing is KEY! Good luck! 4951

@ctl74: Funny you say that.....this is for the HMAA (Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association) so it is a bunch of lawyers!  LOL.  We have an insurance company to underwrite the hole in one for $10k.

We had a putting contest as golfers would make the turn at #9. $5 for 3 balls and it was a 10ft putt. Whoever made the putt would move on to the second round that took place at the end of the tournament. Second round was a 20ft putt and the single person that made that putt or the person that came closest to making it would have a chance at a 40ft putt for $5K. 4951

You might be able to find one or two or more companies to sponsor the whole tournament . I did that and I had 3 to do it. I turned in the total amount the tournament cost us and they sent the checks,so it ended up costing our progr nothing, we kept the profits. 4951

We got a roofing company, a construction company, and supply company. They were friends of our company. You could get several law firms or vendors they do work with. 4951
