We lost our, what we thought, perfectly healthy nine year old golden almost four weeks ago on Sunday. She was fine the day before and then wouldn't eat all day Sunday, vomited bile that morning, started stumbling when she walked and hardly drank any water all day. That night around 10:30, we took her out to potty, she came in and drank lots of water, laid down and rolled over on her side, took five big gasps of air and was gone. Just like that. I've never been so devastated. Our vet back home, who knew her since she was 9 weeks old, said it is very typical for Goldens and Labs to form fatty tumors internally and then suddenly they will burst, causing the dog to bleed out and then the symptoms I mentioned above take place. He said there was nothing I could've done to prevent it and nothing I could've done to fix it even had it been detected earlier. When they burst their timeline is small. We miss her dearly and so does our chocolate lab. I hope your dog has a speedy recovery! They are family!
