I was contemplating the idea of a third dog.Until I took the two I have to the vet Wed.I remember why I can't handle 3 now.I can barley handle two now.Oh well, back to your normally scheduled program.  4951

@FoFaI know what you mean. I have two large dogs and sometimes I think I go to work just to pay the vet bills! It's always something with them. 4951

@noel: That was only half of it, we are not really small dog people (I like all dogs, but large one for me please) and the big one and medium sized were nothing but a huge handful. Not too mention the civic is a tad small for both of them.

Years ago my husband & I took 2 dogs & 2 cats to the vet all together. It was the first & last time that ever happened. Just way too much. We got a little bit of a discount on the office visit. Still wasn't worth it  to do again. 4951

@lola: Shoot, your two would tire me out in no time.
Note to self, NEVER get a high energy dog, let alone two! 4951

Yes I know I am crazy with 4!  Costs a small fortune at the vet but they are all healthy at least!  @FOFA had a small acura prior to having 3 and had to upgrade to the Edge to hold all 4! 4951

@thegoodwifeThat is a beautiful dog! I just got the DNA results back for one of my dogs. We were certain that he was a Catahoula mix. Turns out one parent was a Lab/Pyrenees mix, and the other a  Newfoundland/German/Wire Haired Pointer/Golden Retriever mix. 12.5% of his makeup could not be detected, but definitely no Catahoula in him.

@noel  because the of the brindle markings I would think Catahoula. He is handsome. I have a Newfie. She is a terror... sometimes that's a good thing, other times not so much. But she is growing up & getting better. 4951

@thegoodwifeHow old is your Newfie? LOL...I always assumed that Newfies and Pyranees were calm dogs. This boy is a terror too! He herds us and the cats around the house, nipping at our heels, and dominates my 110 lb Chessie/Lab mix. I may have his DNA run again by a different lab to see if the results come out the same. I have seen NALC registered Catahoulas that look identical to him. 4951

@noel: She's 3, I got her from a rescue @ 6 months. The first two years were hell. She's kinda of calm, but stubborn. I thought what did I do? She needs to be rehomed... but we waited it out. I had a male Newf before her who was the best. So I thought all Newfs were  like him. 4951

@thegoodwife: Haha....that is how I felt when I brought him home from the shelter! I thought I had made a terrible mistake, but I have always made a commitment for life, for better or worse. I remind myself that one day when he is old, I will miss these crazy times!

@noel  I had a hard time finding a newf. I found her at a rescue in the Albany NY area. My husband got in the car & drove there picked her up and came back. So there was no way I could really get rid of her. With adoption fees, gas, food and stuff it cost about $1600.00 to get her here. NO one would of paid anywhere close to that for her.
Her new thing is she wants to sleep outside at night.  That's fine except when she starts barking @ 2,3, 4 in the morning. It not every night but one night barking is one too many in my book. 4951

We had three, two labs and a golden retriever. We lost one lab and our golden within five months so our chocolate labbie is lonely. I miss them terribly too. Dogs are the best, and can be expensive, but so worth it! 4951
