Ouch, smashed my hand and my wedding ring with channel set small diamonds. I think the ring actually saved my finger from greater trauma. I had to use vise grips and make the ring roundish in order to remove it before my finger was so swollen it would have to be cut off. Made a real mess of my ring. Can anyone recommend a jeweler who does repairs. 4951

I've had some work done at Jeweler's Bench - WLHP @ Kingwood Dr - in the Randalls center. I've been pleased with their work. I'd get an estimate first... Sounds like it will be an extensive repair!!! 4951

Thomas Markel is really good!  I used to have a channel set wedding band that I eventually replaced.    It would have been too expensive to repair and the band was getting thin.  The jeweler, not Thomas Markle, said the diamonds were loose.  The prongs had to be repaired.  Just make sure the diamonds in the setting are not loose.   4951

No it isn't insured, but it's actually a modest ring, mostly sentimental value. Hubby already said he get me a new one, so I think I'll get and estimate and decide from there. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!

@TXSunDvl:

We've been in there 3 times and they've been terrible each time. This last time my husband took in a watch to see what it would take to fix. They acted like he was some homeless person walking in. They ignored him the best they could. He was wearing pressed jeans, boots, and a pressed button down shirt. He wasn't dressed like some degergent. Then they mocked him for even thinking his watch would be worth fixing. It was a $300 watch, not a $20 piece of crap from Walmart.

Another time I took my engagement ring in to see if they'd replace a stone for me. It's a tiny stone that had fallen out from the side of the band. I had 3 extra stones with me. They said it was going to be $80!

1. It's a $10 stone and I was providing it.
2. It just needed to be put back in and the prongs adjusted.

They said it would take a week because it needed to be sent off because they needed to create a new prong for it.

Their story was total bull crap. I know this because my dad has been a jeweler my entire life. He was living in Ohio at the time so he couldn't fix it for me that time. When he came down he slapped the stone back in and all was well. It took less than 5 minutes.

So yeah...I hate that place. They've treated both my husband and I like we didn't know what we were talking about on 2 separate occasions. 4951
