I surely did NOT until yesterday........Me and my beautiful hubb went to scope out a house on some acreage in Dayton, and as we were headed towards the proper turn off, we noticed a pretty good sized State Jailhouse Unit on the left hand side..........It was NOT a pleasant site to be held, with all of the fences and massive light poles.......I just didn't get that "Welcome Home" warm, tingly feeling........So, yeah, that property was a definite No-Go..... ....Actually, we've scratched off that entire direction/area..... 4951

I think there's actually two out there. I could be wrong though. I'd have to ask my DH. He works at the one in atascocita, but almost transferred to the one you were talking about. Those places are definitely not somewhere I would want to be after dark. Did y'all have a nice trip, though besides that? 4951

Yep, there is a women's prison out there.  I know several people who minister to those ladies and also someone who works out there. 4951

@bp2018  @monyhoney...Whoa...  See, you dudes knew, but my hubb and I actually had NO idea until we literally ran straight upon it.........We had a nice lil' drive to the country, but yeah, we both agreed pretty instantaneously that's NOT the area for us........Not that we would ever be scared of a possible prison escape or nothin', but I just have absolutely NO desire to be close or located by any jails, prisons, "units" .........That's just NOT my type of scenery.....@bp2018 ....Ummm dude.....I had No idea that your hubb was an officer of the law......... In that case, please forget everything that I've ever said referring to "Mary Jane".........Hugs NOT Drugs.....   4951

Knew about Dayton, lived there for many years (city not prison) its across from the Sams warehouse.  My ex-POS friend was imprisoned there for a too short of time.  Its a high security prison, dont think in the history they have ever had a prison break.  Liberty county is tough! 4951

@herron1345:  Jail/prison guards are considered in the law enforcement arena, but do not have authority to ticket or arrest you. 4951

@Retired_Engineer...Once again, R.E., thank you kindly dude-Sir, for confirming that, but I educate my household to be equally cautious and respectful of all law dawgs..........And even more so for Texas Rangers...

@herron1345:  I feel the same way.  I will mention that Game Wardens in Texas (and most states) are fully authorized law enforcement officers (LEOs).  They can write traffic tickets and arrest you.  I got stopped by one for speeding just south of Lufkin, but he just told me to slow down.  Normally, they don't bother with traffic tickets, but I blew right by him.  I think he took mercy on me because he was also speeding.
