I've heard it is much better than it has been in the past and much cheaper than day care.

Unfortunately we can't use it because they don't do mornings and I have to drop my DD at 6. 4951

My son is starting Kindergarten this year - Foster Elementary - and we are doing YMCA. I am a little nervous as I would prefer for him to be around kids only his age. I did YMCA when I was younger and it was great but things have certainly changed in schools since then! Glad to see I am not the only parent worried a little bit :-).  4951

@kriselder05:

Even if you did daycare - your kid would be with all schoolers up to the age of 12.  My DD has been in daycare since she was 6 weeks so we have been thru it all. 4951

My daughter attended YMCA at Deerwood last year when she was 8 and she is enrolled for this year. She loves it! They keep the kids busy and play all sorts of games with them. I've gone in and watched the kids get on stage and do skits, they had a lemonade stand and sold fruit and lemonade to parents and they have small celebrations throughout the year. I like it way better then the day care that puts her on a video game or computer and doesnt have her do any homework! You can tell the YMCA if you want homework to be done there or at home and their really good about getting it done. She was bullied by the bigger kids at day care but no one seemed to bother her at the Y. I wish they did open in the morning but for now I pay $50 a week for a daycare to take her to school for me and the Y is I think is under $200 for a month. 4951

yes,, we used YMCA when the kids were younger,, they were so much help. If there was an issue where they couldn't have an after school caretaker available,, they would take the kids to the YMCA building,, where they had a blast.I say go for it. 4951

@Kwmom74: I guess it's about the same cost.  I pay $98 per week during the school year and they do homework with her.  Thank goodness because when I pick her up the evening is like a mad dash.

@dotti573: I have a 3 year old that goes to Primrose so it's easier to drop them both off in the morning. You're right though it is crazy to try and get them by 6.30 and I have to go to 2 separate places!
