When you have eggs left over from a carton where the date has come and gone do you throw them away? How long or many days are they good for? I normally buy a dozen and sometimes I may have a few left, but by the time I get ready to use them they're expired. Normally I throw them out but I wonder if I could have used them especially if I was going to boil it rather than fry. 4951

I'm guilty of not paying attention to the exp date on eggs. I never got sick either. I've eaten them after 2 months in fridge. I say a week is okay. You know they have fresh free range eggs at the co-op place on Knox road! Fresh eggs! I got some and they were so good!!! 4951

We refrigerate ours, so I will use them up to a few days after the date.  After that I toss them.  If they were kept room temp, I might not go past the date on the carton.  I know there are mixed reviews on the various guidelines, but what i have heard most often is that the expiration date is not a definite, set in stone and you have some time after that date.  4951

Fill a bowl with water and put egg in the bowl and if it floats its bad. That's what I found when I googled it 4951

Do the float test! If it sinks to the bottom, they're no more than 3 days old. If they sink but are at an angle, it's about a week old. Sinks and stand on end, about two weeks old. If they float, they're no good and need to be thrown away. 4951

We keep ours refrigerated,, I never check the date,, if I crack it and it stinks it in the trash,, next egg,, etc... We usually eat them fast enough,,  or I should say I do. Especially when I am training. You can also shine a light bulb though it and if the egg looks clear,, like its glowing,, then you should be ok,, but if its dark,, then its going bad. 4951

I always take mine out of the egg carton when I get them so I have no idea when the expiration date on them is.  I've never gotten sick from any of mine so I guess I use them before they go bad.  4951

@KT0721: Me too, but I cut the expiration date portion off the carton and place it in the bin where I keep the eggs so I will know when they expire. 4951

We never did either @murf Our fresh chicken eggs went into a bowl and stayed on the counter for weeks. They are good for a month after freshly laid! Craving a nice yellow cake now!  4951

Our eggs don't usually make it to the expiration date. But if they do get there, we usually boil the rest of them up for snacks. I could sit and eat a dozen hardboiled eggs..All I need is the s&ampEmoticon shaker! Emoticon  4951
