My daughter is 26 years old, she has lived in Kingwood for over three years now. She has high-functioning autism, she just has a little difficulty with initially understanding verbal instructions. Once explained, she will get it and be persistent in accomplishing the tasks.
She is good with animals and loves working with them.
She in search of a job, preferably at an animal boarding kennel or pet grooming place, she currently has two dogs at home she takes care of. She would love to walk, bathe, brush and take care of pets. She just wants an opportunity to prove herself. While others may like the work initially, but see it as tedious after a little while. She would enjoy the routine day to day work.
We moved here because we thought there would be job opportunities, she has applied at numerous places, several said there were openings available. She has not received one call for an interview. She even tried Starbucks, where she worked at for 5 years before coming here.
It would be nice if someone would give her an opportunity, she would be an asset to someone's business.

HEB also hires special needs- my ds works there and he used to work at the old Kroger on NP. Both places are good with Special needs. If she waits for a month or so all the kids will head back to school and college so there will be openings
Did she try all the local vets- they're always looking for kennel techs. A word of caution tho- while your dd may love animals and care for her dogs- it's different caring for someone else's dogs in a kennel situation. Dogs act differently when they're out of their home environment I have 3 dogs- one whines and barks when he's kenneled- he rarely barks at home. The other 2 are protective at home and laid back in the kennel. And some dogs can sense a human with special needs and sometimes they get confused and scared. My 2 protective dogs are like that and have avoided contact with my son. They just have a hard time processing his body language.
Lastly if your dd is sensitive to sound - the kennel is very hard to work in- they never stop barking- it bothers me when I've done kennel work. My dd started out in kennels, worked as a vet tech and is now a dog groomer. Shes been bit more as a groomer than as a vet tech. So there's that to deal with.
Also contact The Village Learning Center- they may be able to help with resources for your dd 4951

She is in a great area of town to seek employment or volunteer work.  I know the City of Humble pound is always looking for people to help them as well.  Might get ahold of Volunteers for Animal protection too, they are located off 494.  Best wishes to her! 4951
