I live on  Forest Village Drive in Hunter's Ridge and we have a stray cat problem, what do we do about this?  I have seen at least 6 different cats on our street. The other day two of them climbed on my neighbor's garage roof and took a nap up there.  For the past year we haven't had one flea and now I have been fighting them for the past week (my dogs haven't gone anywhere, the fleas have come to them).  My dogs are eating their skin off and I'm spraying my yard, house, everything to get rid of these things (I have a 5 month old baby, so I have better things to do and I don't want them to start attacking him). So this is all no use if these cats are running around spreading eggs everywhere.  Today I went out on my back porch and there was cat poop on my porch!  Couldn't believe it!  What can I do about this?  I would trap them myself but then what do I do with them, shelters don't want them.  I tried looking up animal control for this area but didn't really see much.  The one jerk cat sits in the middle of the road sometimes and won't let you pass!  We need help!  I sent this to the HOA but I really need advice ASAP or I'm not going to be able to sleep.  4951

@Odin: Crack me up with your avatar.  You could probably come right on down and pick him up off the road.  He does not move very fast.  He seems very lazy so I don't think he is the one jumping over my fence and pooping on my porch.  He's probably just the one impregnating the others.  Dear Lord its only going to get worse down here!!

Don't know if this will help the overall problem but a friend had the same problem HOA wouldn't do anything nor did animal control. She installed motion sensor sprinklers in her yard which kept the cats out of her yard. As for flees, i use advantage from the vets & my dogs never get them. Good luck with HOA i hope they help you. 4951

We've been using Frontline but its not working.  And my one dog is
highly highly allergic to the bites, she will rip all her hair out and
chew through her skin, just off one bite.  So if they are out playing
around and the flea bites before the Frontline kills it her world begins to end.  Motion
sensor sprinklers....hmm....I'm not staying in a neighborhood with
stray cats and no one will do anything about it.  I really don't like to
look at them.  I don't want my kids riding their bikes down the road
and flea ridden cats are jumping out from underneath cars at them.  I'd
rather just move.  4951

I doubt the HOA will help. They will tell you to call animal control. We have a bunch over here across the road in Sherwood Trails too. My favorite one disappeared a few weeks back Emoticon I kind of got attached to the little thing. My cat likes to go outside for a few hours a day and the strays bully her so she runs back in. 4951

You can try lining your yard with natural cat repellant. They don't like citrus scents, for example.

For the fleas, we use Teifexis for our dogs. It's a heartworm and other parasite prevention, plus it repels fleas so they don't even get the chance to bite the dog. Works wonders for us, and I've never found a flea on them. 4951

There are lawn treatments for fleas, but I have not tried them myself.  My pest guy does all the work. I also use Trifexis.  I have heard some poor reviews of it but it works for my dog although she hates to chew it.  4951

@Spunkin: I hide mine in a little bit of peanut butter. My dog eats it everytime.

@bp2018: I have to cut it in half and hide each piece in a lot of peanut butter.  I have tried everything, pill pockets, etc and she mustn't like the smell.  Someone told me to open the packet and let it air out all day before I give it to her and that didn't work either.   I'll keep doing the peanut butter.

Go to SAMs club or costco, get the large sized jar of paprika or chili powder, sprinkle it in your flower beds, or anywhere you think they are peeing or pooping and make sure it's not on a rainy day, but a sunny day then you will see how much cats hate spicy. They will get it in their paws and lick it off while they scratch the dirt and it will keep them away, til it rains! 4951

My parents live on Forest Village Dr. They do have a cat who is an outside cat. He wants nothing to do with being inside other than to eat. He only sleeps inside when its cold or hot. He is snipped and chipped btw. PM me if need be. 4951

Fleas aren't because of the cats, fleas are because of the wild animals.  G'zz  Do you know squirrels and all other wild carry more pest into your yards then household animals?  These cats probably belong to people on your block or in the village.  A lot of cats run free as there is NO leash law for cats.  My 2 that go out usually stay in their yard and potty then come back in, they refuse to use a cat box.Dont round up someones kitty instead put vinegar around your property and they will stay away. 4951

@Siovahn: frontline is the worst, hasn't been effective for years now, try revolution.  Anything you  buy in the store will not be as effective as what you get from a vet.  Also if you have an exterminator have them spray the yard OR get some spectrum spread the granuals all over your yard.  we live in Texas and its hot here, nothing we can do about fleas cept try to control them Emoticon
