Comfortis for monthly prevention, it's better than any topical hands down, no messy residue to deal with either. A couple of vets told me that frontline isn't as effective as it used to be, fleas have started becoming resistant to it.

As for the yard, I would get a bug guy. I'd also wash everything in the house that the dog sits, lies, sleeps on, and bomb the house.

@xjamiex: yep I use frontline in the winter if I think they need something but not in the summer bc the fleas are getting resistant to it.

@xjamiex: Where can I get Comfortis?  Does not seem to be at Petco or Petsmart.

I 2nd diatomaceous earth (food grade) for your yard. Get it at Knox Farm and Feed for $10 and sprinkle it on your yard and fluff it through his fur. Do the fur every week until it's under control. The yard every six months. It's an all natural fix and I feel safer using it. Get the FOOD GRADE though...so if he licks himself it can only help, lol. 4951

Getting a proffesional house and yard flea treatment is best if you have a infestation.  Plus use the topical or oral meds you prefer. 4951

@N+T: not finding an infestation. but vet thinks dog has a flea allergy.  been using k9advantix ii.  may have to consider a professional yard treatment because i have an orange tree that bears fruit.
