The politicians don't know how to solve the real problems. They don't live in our reality. $$$$$$ in their pockets is all they care about

@Retired_Engineer:

Sure.
Hgmag: Plus the senate refusing to pass the fair pay act allowing women to be paid almost 25% less than men. That one really p*sses me off

Any cursory research of the facts prove this to be wholly untrue based on a use of statistics to create lies.

Wjo: Interest rates are at an all time low to boost the housing market  , a step in the right direction

Artificially low interest rates are not good. Lenders have to restrict who they loan to because lower interest rates mean less profit for lenders. Less profit per loan means that losses from defaulted loans can be absorbed.

Boo bear: Hasn't eminent domain been around since we rounded up the native Americans and took their land?

Really? Eminent domain? America was formed just like every other country; taking it by force from the people who occupied it. Do you think the "Indians" were the first ones to own the land?

@WJo: 20 years is NEW.
Will we be the people republic of the united states in another 20 years?

@FoFa:   Unfortunately, we are already more of a republic than a democracy.  I understood the need for an Electoral College back when many people couldn't read and communication was limited.  However, every US citizen now has the ability to learn about presidential candidates, yet the popular vote of the citizens still does not elect the president, the Electoral College does.

You know the EC didn't have anything to do with how many people could read or write. (not that those who can read and write now are able to make cogent decisions.) The EC was made to ensure smaller states with lower populations had say in the election.

i am correct according to simple definition of phrase. when the govt takes something regardless of ownership for the good of most.

you are also correct in that is how countries have always been formed. doesnt change what it is.

this country was formed as a democratic republic, not a true democracy. 4951

I never tought of that before, of course I knew the drugs were used for other women's health problems, but I never thought of that in this light. 4951

Lawmakers Push for Overhaul of IPO ProcessA bipartisan group of lawmakers called on regulators to overhaul the way initial public offerings are conducted, concerned that last month's flubbed stock sale by FacebookInc. shows the current system unfairly punishes small investors.
Because investing just needs to be safe, right?Why do I get the feeling that politics is governed by what the biggest news stories are?It couldn't be possible News organizations are steering our politics could it? 4951

Drones at home raise fear of surveillance societyWASHINGTON (AP) — Thousands of drones patrolling U.S. skies?Predictions that multitudes of unmanned aircraft could be flying here within a decade are raising the specter of a "surveillance society" in which no home or backyard would be off limits to prying eyes overhead. Law enforcement, oil companies, farmers, real estate agents and many others have seen the technology that was pioneered on battlefields, and they are eager to put it to use.It's not just talk: The government is in the early stages of devising rules for the unmanned aircraft. 4951
