>> New Year's morning there will be 700 marathon runners from all over the US using our trails.  They are charged $85 per person. Most of these participants are not residents or homeowners. They will begin in GreenTree park and run throughout most of Kingwood. This little park is designed for local residents only with about 6 parking spaces. The runners and their companions park throughout GreenTree up and down the streets until late in the Day on New Years. This makes it impossible for residents to get in and out of their own neighborhood. Residents also can't use their own park. Also, residents find it difficult to walk or run on their own trails New Year's Day.The way I read our Trail Association By Laws, all of this is prohibited use by outsiders. The By Laws say that the Parks and Trails are for use by homeowners, residents and their families. No one seems to be able to stop this misuse  of our trails. If you agree that having this event in our neighborhood is a bad idea, please contact your trail trail association and also your home owners association and let them know you do not want this event to happen in our neighborhood.
@trailrunner: Waaaaaaaa. Its been every year for the last 20 years or so. You TOTALLY lie when you say they"run throughout most of kingwood." Just a total lie. Its about 4 miles of the 90+ miles of greenbelts. (4 out and 4 back). Its one day a year. One day out of 365.
Waaaaaaaa.
@rundmv: Yep- totally agree!!! There are what 80 other miles to run on???
@trailrunner- pick another route to run that day. I live in Sand Creek and I love this marathon- I run but not that distance- I LOVE running up to the route and cheering them on.
The sponsors are great at the clean up and directing traffic- it's just one day out of the year- get over it.
