TOP STORIESFERGUSON UNREST CONTINUES
“It was almost a peaceful night. But late Tuesday, the tension in the
air broke and there were, once again, confrontations between police and
the protesters out calling for justice in the shooting death of Michael
Brown … According to Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson, police
encountered fewer violent incidents on Tuesday, no Molotov cocktails and
no live gunfire. In response, officers did not feel the need to use
smoke bombs or tear gas, though a limited amount of pepper spray was
deployed, he said.” Earlier in the day, officers in North St. Louis had fatally shot a man wielding a knife. Attorney General Eric Holder, who arrives in St. Louis today, wrote an op-ed in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. As the grand jury probe begins today, witnesses of the shooting can’t agree on the chain of events that led to the fatal act. Support for Darren Wilson, the officer who fatally shot Michael Brown, is growing. And the Pentagon defended the program that has armed police departments across the country with military gear. as a response to an earlier comment, holder has a perfect right to be there as the attorney general of the united states. the comment about him being a racebaiter is simply  ******** hyperbolic rhetoric and serves no purpose but to reveal a mindset.and with all due respect, mpjp, i doubt your friend will be able to actually ascertain any truths by being there. at this point, about the only way to get at any semblance of the truth would be for an examination of all the witnesses and all the facts surrounding the situation and to be able to discard the falsities and the erroneous to arrive at whatever the reality truly is as far as can be gleaned from all the turmoil. being there can give a sense of what is going on but that sense can be  skewed by whatever circumstances he finds himself in, much like a soldier in battle has no concept of what is going on in the big picture 4951

The statement mentioned in a previous post that the "sins of the father (so to speak) are passed down to subsequent generations," is a complete an utter cop out......What a crock of ****..........It's called personal responsibility....     ...Are we not each, individually, responsible for our own actions?

@herron1345: Perhaps I need to make it clear what I mean by that.  Had there never been slavery; Had the systematic rape of primarily black females never happened; Had the white wife not have to listen to the cries of said females while her husband was doing what he pleased, knowing she had no power to stop it never happened; Had subsequent lynching never happened; Had the assassination of Abraham Lincoln never happened; Had there been no such thing as Jim Crow laws, pole taxes, literacy test before voting never happened;Had housing discrimination never happened; Had there not been the murders of Emmitt Till, Rev James Reeb, Viola Liuzzo, Goodman, Cheney, and Schwerner and many others never happened; Had Brown vs. the Board of Education not been necessary; Had the assassinations of Medgar Evers, John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King never happened, all whom were involved in the civil rights movement, then perhaps the fact that a black teenager was killed by a white man, especially one in position of authority would not be news.It may take a few more generations before the mistrust some people of color have toward authority figures whom happen to have white skin will finally be a thing of the past.  As a consequence the protest and subsequent violence that we see today will no longer be a common occurrence, and those who loot will face the wrath of said communities with or without police involvement.  I absolutely agree that people should take personal responsibility for their lives.  People should also not use past atrocities as an excuse.  However, the past always has an effect on the present, and the present will have an effect on the future.

@rocket:
That sounds atrocious, and it is. You cant change history but the fact is America was not the only or largest slave holders and yet our country seems to be the only one still entrenched in the victimhood. We also had Chinese "slaves". They built the majority of our railroad system..African slaves built a lot of the great wall of china. Its just time to move on. On all the sides.

It may take a few more generations before the LACK OF RESPECT and NO FEAR some people of color have toward authority figures whom happen to have white skin will finally be a thing of the past.

@rocket: I fixed it for you Rocket.
