License plate number: CY8 H324 (I have pictures for the police).  I am not sure if you let your teenage son borrow your car, or if that was actually his car. But someone needs to teach child drivers it is NOT acceptable to HIT AND RUN. Yeah, that's right, he was on Bassingham two days ago, in front of me. When he reached North Park to turn right, he pulled out too far and started backing into me. I left him plenty of room, but when he got close to hitting me I laid on my horn. Instead of braking - CRUNCH. He totally hits my car, doesn't get out, but zooms off at the first opportunity almost getting hit by an oncoming car in his attempt to lose me. I caught up, and he looked pretty scared. He also had a young female passenger.    There is only a small scratch above my front license plate, and I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to press charges...but if someone drives with the attitude that they don't even have to apologize for their poor driving, what happens when he hits a runner?? God forbid. Does anyone know this kid?? 4951

Kid needs to learn a lesson but it can be done without involving the cops. 4951

C-Class...pfffftttt.

Seriously, I would still contact the police.  If you don't, then the kids thinks he got away with it, and will think he can do it again.  He needs to be held accountable and learn that when you screw up, you have to step up and own it.  4951

I agree with donnatella , a lesson learned will stay in the kids memory for a long time . And I would get an estimate on the repair no matter how small it is , he should have to pay for it . Hitting him in the pocket will really hurt more than his pride & he will remember it a lot longer. 4951

Don't get me wrong...I would love to find his parents and go from there. A friend of mine is an officer at the police department on West Lake Houston; I was thinking of having her find the parents and talk to them without the intention of pressing charges. Thoughts? Who knows, maybe if he's completely without remorse I will. It just scares me that I have been hit 5 times in the past 18 months by horrible Kingwood drivers. 4/5 of them kids. 2 because of texting. 4951

If you do nothing, then he learns nothing.  If you can find the parents without involving the police, and they are receptive, then fine.  If not, NO ONE should be able to get by with a hit and run, no matter how small the damage. 4951

I agree with the general consensus here. Only involve the cops if he is a **** about it. You never know he may be a really good kid that let his fear take over his good judgement and needs this experience to know how to react better in the future? I am way too nice about these things personally though so I may be wrong. I've had someone back into my PARKED car and crack the body and I didn't even ask them to pay for it. I figured the car wasn't that great anyways and no one was hurt and it was only cosmetic so I didn't wanna make a thing of it. Thinking back though, I feel like an idiot because the same thing happened to me except I WAS the ****** who back up without seeing a car there. I didn't even scratch the car though and I left a dent that I felt like I could have just popped out right then and there, but the lady freaked out and called the cops. Karma is so real. 4951
