Fleas aren't because of the cats, fleas are because of the wild animals.  G'zz  Do you know squirrels and all other wild carry more pest into your yards then household animals?  These cats probably belong to people on your block or in the village.  A lot of cats run free as there is NO leash law for cats.  My 2 that go out usually stay in their yard and potty then come back in, they refuse to use a cat box.Dont round up someones kitty instead put vinegar around your property and they will stay away.

Yes there is a leash/control law for cats. All cats in Texas must be under owners direct physical control just like dogs. They are not special. Last year we had tons of squirrels but I haven't seen one in our trees yet this year; however, the number of stray cats has increased...I'm not a genius but...

I won't be spreading mass amounts of chili powder around my yard so I can do it again each time I run my sprinklers. I don't think my dogs would appreciate it either.

I have the fleas under control but the poop on the porch is too much. HOA said to trap them and take em to BARC. Animal control can take 1-2 days to pick up. Sorry but my yard is not your cat's litter box. I will pm the gentlemen about which cat is his parents, I doubt it's the one I've seen around my garage, those look far from family pets. 4951

vinegar will distract them from going in your yard.  It works.  Keeps mine out of my flower beds and others My neighbors use it to keep squirrels and possums out of the yard as well.  heck my dog killed two possums just last night.  Babies though and there are an abundance of squirrels in my yard if you want I can bring them over and share LOL.And you say its not some families pet, but what if trapping having barc kill them makes some little kid cry themself to sleep because their friend didn't come home?  i say take steps to keep them out of your yard if you dont like them, dont kill them or have them killed just because of a flea or pee stains. 4951

My neighbor recently got a cat and it has decided that my property is it's property.  Everytime I go outside it is either on my car, under my car, meowing at my front door or sleeping someplace on my property.  It's also bringing it's friends now so they can fight and make a ton of noise at all hours of the night.

Everytime i take my puppy outside I have to hope it's not out there or my arm gets yanked off.  I think it has fleas also because it's constantly scratching everytime I see it.

Keep in mind, if you treat your yard and your neighbors don't they will come right back.  We keep having that issue with fire ants.  I have the yard treated and noone else does and within 2 weeks my yard is completely overrun with fire ants again.  It drives me crazy.

We use sentinel for our dog and haven't had any issues yet.  Knock on wood.

We have 2 indoor cats that I wouldn't think of ever letting outside.  You can't keep them contained and anything can happen to them.  It drives me crazy that people let theirs outside.  One of my biggest pet peeves. 4951

I don't know that I could use one on a cat, but I know my pellet gun works great on squirrels.  4951

I know this won't help the immediate problem, but if you can trap the cats you can take them to SNAP (www.snapus.org) and they will snap/neuter them for free. Then you can bring them back to your neighborhood. It will at least stop the problem of more future stray cats. 4951

I have always had indoor cats... however my current cat which I rescued refuses to STAY indoors.. He will litereally dart out when possible....  so he is my first indoor outdoor cat...   He always sleeps inside overnight.  I would guess he is outside about 5 hrs a day.. He sticks to my yard and a couple neighbors yards...  He is a hunter so he goes outside and kills lizards, baby birds and squirrels.... ughhhh  he leaves them for me on my driveway..... Not sure what the answer is ... most likely you have a male unaltered cat around and the problem will get worse until he is no longer around and altered...   good luck 4951

@maven:

Why would you want to bring them back?

@lola I guess in case they are someone's pets. I know some people don't mind them because they kills mice and snakes, etc. We had a guy move in next door to where I work and he brought several outside cats with him. I am thinking of trapping them and getting them fixed and then bringing them back. I know they are the guy's cats, but they are always on our property. So I was hoping that by getting them fixed there will be no more babies around the area. I guess the only other alternative is rounding them up and taking them to the shelter. 4951
