I know I can probably google this - but, when you make a right turn on green, don't you have the right of way over the oncoming traffic turning left? Also, when there are two lanes and one comes to an end with that sign they have, doesn't the person in the lane ending have to yield to the person in the remaining lane?I know this sounds like common sense. Just checking. 4951

It depends more on what you're driving.Honestly.If I can get there before you even think of going... I had the right of way. 4951

Thanks, @taramay. I was coming home from work and this person turned left in front of me and then was in the left lane of the entrance on to the 59 feeder road. I was in the right lane and of course he looked at me like I was wrong on both accounts. I recently changed my hours with getting my new job and I now get to KW Drive around 3:40 pm and it is almost just as bad as at 5:30! When I went by KHS, someone in front of me slammed on their brakes. I am not sure if they thought the blinking yellow light to warn you of a stoplight ahead threw them off. At 3:45, the school zone lights are off. 4951

Then in all likelihood he had the right of way.Unless it was a Boxster or Cayman. Which is like a Porsche Camry-Solara. 4951

When turning right onto a multi lane road you must turn into the right most lane. A person turning left must turn into the left most lane
If it is a 2 lane road the person turning right as the right of way. 4951

@jls2: people drive like ******s around here. Especially when schools are getting out. I purposefully don't drive past the schools around those times.

Today I had no choice though. And naturally 2 dimwitted tweens jumped out into the crosswalk as I was driving through. Their friends acted horrified that they didn't stop at the curb when they saw me coming. I should have blasted my horn to scare the crap out of them.

@dac1842 - I go home this way every day. The people going left on Townsend are coming from the direction of Target and usually they go into the right hand lane with not a care in the world, LOL. So many times, people in front of me turning right on Townsend stop at the green light and yield to the people turning left. Very annoying!!!!! 4951

@jls2:

Omg that is a huge peeve of mine! I drive that way good home everyday, and I swear I see that happen all the time! I'm waiting for the day that I get hit when I have the green light because some dingbat thinks that they can turn even though they only have a green light and not the turn arrow. 4951

Rule #1 of defensive driving is the other person has the right of way in every situation.For example, you're turning right.  Another person is turning left.  It's a green light.  By law you have the right of way.  You turn.  He turns.  You collide.  It's great that you are in the right.  He will pay.  But proving you're right isn't worth the accident.  Let the left turner turn.  Then you won't collide. 4951

@fcabanski: Doesn't fit the mentality of those driving two ton grocery haulers.

I'm not out to prove anything. And I am certainly not going to yield to people turning left by stopping at a green light and having the cars behind me possible rear end me. 4951
