I am currently in the process of re-locating to Texas to be closer to family who live in the Woodlands.  WIth not knowing much about the area just yet, I am seeking advice on  any commercial construction companies that I would need to seek out for employment.  I am a commercial construciton project manager with over 17 years in the industry.  I have a wide range of expertise, from site supervision, estimitating, civil and  project management.  Any ideas from anyone in the area would be greatly appreciated.  I look forward to coming to area with my family very soon  Thank you.

You are leaving Ky. to come to Texas ??? Are you nuts ??? WE moved here from Ky. 4 1/2 years ago  & bought a home , now we are trying to sell our home to move back to Ky. The people in Texas are great , but the weather will suck the life out of you . It's never really cold , no snow &  never enough rain . The taxes will kill you if the weather dosen't . And everything is overpriced .

Why would you move to Texas ? Have your family join you in Ky. Stay where the grass is green & you actually have 4 seasons .....just FYI from a transplanted Ky. person. 4951

@WJo: Emoticon We were transferred here.  Been here 4 years and would pack up in a heart beat to go home to Indiana again if we could. Miss the seasons too...

Wjo, is your hubby retiring? If they moved you here, are they helping you get back? 4951

@Jake_Bob: unfortunately not true...we are all tied to our careers. Where job goes, we must follow.

@lola... Hubby has no retirement with the company he is with , even though he has been with them for 44 years . We want to move back home because that's where our kids & families are . We had planned on moving back 4 years ago , but because we were in an accident that almost killed us we were stck here till our accident case was settled. Now we are ready to move back , we just need to sell our home to move. And to answer your question ...no hubby's company will not be paying for our move back , we will be footing the bill our selves.

Hubby will be retiring in 3 years , so since he has no retirement benefits where he works , no need to stick around here any longer ...been singing the same song for 4 years...I just want to go home.... 4951

Just like a yankee to just talk about themselves and not help anybody out.

Larry, check out www.chron.com (Houston Chronicle) they have their Top 100 companies posted (public and private). This is an annual survey and it is broken down by industry. Also check out their business section where they list some of the commercial properry deals and ground breaking. They might list companies in those articles.

You can also try "work in Texas" the job site for the Texas department of employment. Insperity (formally administaff) also lists jobs.

Lastly, you might be able to put that project manager talent to use with energy and energy related companies like Haliburton. Andarko is HQ's in the Woodlands.

Good luck, Texas is a great place to live and raise a family.

@Texins...since we were only here a short while before we were almost killed & I spent 2 years getting my life back I have no idea what companies are hiring & where cetain areas are. I have only been out of Kingwood 3 times in 4 1/2 years & both times were to go to the hospital for surgery . So just because we are from the north does not mean we are "self centered" , maybe you should not say anything about anyone untill you know the entire story...just my opinion...have a nice day ! 4951

@Wjo I didn't mention you specifically. Just found it sad that some guy who is relocating here wants some advice on getting a job and everyone except for Aggie just took the chance to talk about themselves.

Larry, I would delete your cell # off the site. There are some who might call you and pitch you a sob story to get some of your $$$$ or tell you that you have a job and try and steal your personal info. 4951
