We are looking around learning the area and neighborhoods so we can decide where to buy/build at and I came across Oakhurst off 59 and Kings Mill off North park.

I was wanting to get opinions on these neighborhood? There beautiful, great location, schools seem good, love the parks and pools. I also notice there are like 4 different enterances off 59 from Kingwood all the way down to Porter in the Oakhurts neighborhood.

What are your likes and dislikes?

I would pay attention to school districts if that is important to you. .Some are in Humble ISD and some in Porter ISD.

Oakhurst is a nice neighborhood.. Not too familiar with Kings Mill.

They are both in New Caney ISD.  They are not officially part of Kingwood so you don't have park and pool access in Kingwood.  Oakhurst has a golf course.  Both are close to 59 and offer new construction.  There are two other neighborhoods in the back of Kingwood off of Mills Branch Rd. that also offer new construction.  Woodspring Forest and River Bend.  They are zoned for Kingwood schools if that is important to you.

Thank you we looked at those two and while they are nice to and in good schools its so far back and we already hate driving all the way down north park (we'vre right before Lake houston st) or whatever its called) as it is I don't want to go further back. They all have parks and pools so thats a plus but your right it is NC school district. I need to relook into their information. Thanks for the information!

We love living in Oakhurst! Nice pool, several parks, close to 59. New Caney schools, but I don't know enough to say if that's good or bad. The annual HOA fees are $550.

Oakhurst is no good. I used to rent a house out there and in the few months I was there my house was broken into four times. I had always locked my doors too.

@hgmag:

That often comes with the proximity to a major interstate which is why we like living in the back of Kingwood.  We've been in our home for 6 years and have never had any type of incident whatsoever.

Yeah I learned that one very quickly. Plus when the police came out they told me that people also like to rob developing neighborhoods because there are not many people around to see. Now I live in elm grove, I love it my neighbors are all cops too so I feel extra safe.

I live in Bear Branch ( upfront Kingwood) Older homes but well  built . We/ve never had a problem. I like the older neighborhoods because they have trees. The new developments clear the land before they build. I have the same access to Kingwood dr. or Northpark.

There is a new subdivision, Woodridge Forrest, which is off of Northpark behind St. Martha Catholic Church.  It is a Porter address and New Caney Schools.  Currently you can only enter from Northpark but the master plan is several phases/sections with an entrance/exit at 494 as well as it connecting to Woodland Hills Drive behind the Kingwood Park High School.

I live in kings mill. Love it! We are a kingwood addy an YES you get to use the kingwood parks,just need to get a k sticker. The kids go to the better new caney schools. I have a 2nd and 4th grader and have not one complaint about kings manor elementary school. My oldest had horrible grades up in Ohio last year but is now on the a/b honor roll.
