My wife was skittish about guns when we dated, but I had no intention of giving them up, so I gave her a safety session on guns. After she went shooting with me, she now likes to go to the range. My Ruger .22 Competition pistol with a red dot sight has become "hers". She will shoot bigger guns but prefers the .22
@Retired_Engineer: That's awesome! I've never pushed the issue very hard. As everyone knows, marriage comes with sacrifice and compromise. Guns were not high on my "I have to keep this!" list, so it wasn't hard for me. In IL, it was getting too expensive(and difficult) to hunt anyway, so I had already given that up. They collected dust, except for a few weekends spent shooting skeet at my uncles place. As far as handguns, it just wasn't a priority with me. That's changed quite a bit since we've lived here. Not that it's dangerous around here or anything...But I feel a need to protect my family, especially since we travel quite a bit...AND, I did have my wallet taken at gunpoint shortly after coming here. It happened at a restaurant, just off of Bellaire Blvd. That powerless feeling is not something I'd wish on anyone, let alone someone I love.
