Back in Hernando ms....the Arbor Day foundation peeps gave away 10 different saplings....5 of each every January. I planted several saw tooth oaks and redbud. Stood in line in snowy cold **** weather. Enjoying 75 degrees today in shorts!

@cgm10sne1:  You lived in Hernando?  I have a good friend that lives just east of Hernando near where Holly Springs Rd meets Hwy 305.

@cgm10sne1:   Cool.  It's very nice there.  We usually visit them about once a year.  Kudzu has spread pretty bad since he first moved up there.

Loblolly Pines actually are native to this area. I rather like them. At least they don't drop those horrible ball shaped seed pods. 4951

@Ducatisti:  I assume you are talking about the Sweet Gum trees.  I had one in my back yard.  I hated those balls.  The tree died after the bad drought and the only thing I miss about it was its shade.

Yup. That's the one. We have a bunch of them around our house since the long side of our property in against the greenbelt. If the stupid balls weren't there, I'd like the trees. 4951

I wish they'd plant some over here in Atascocita.  A lot of trees died and were removed.  The traffic noise from 1960 and WLH is now horrendous. 4951
