I hope he makes a full recovery and gets back to running with his pals.  I'm one of the old slow people he often passes while training on the greenbelts! 4951

@angiekaye:

You can do about the same damage by running full speed onto a wall. And that's an average of 14 mph. 4951

My son too having suffered severe injuries from a fall made me realize how fragile the human body truly is. By the grace of God the young man in this article is alive and so is my son, but it does make you stop and think before "rushing" to work or home. Everyone is in such a hurry to get through the lights or stop signs and not paying attention. Too often I see someone daily nearly get hit at the West Lake Houston and NP light and they are the ones that have the right to walk due to the sign being lit, but yet some jerk turning right sees the green and says let's go! Stop and let people go. It takes all of a couple extra seconds out of your day. If you are in that big of a rush leave earlier.

Prayers being said for the young man Jeremy. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Hey @cowboysfan0314, long time no see on here postingEmoticonYou are right, we all need to slow down and pay attention to the road more.

@Fallon: We all need to be careful driving in residential areas, but also it is more important that pedestrians/runners/bikers need to be 100% sure there are no cars coming before darting into the street.  It is in the best interest of the human body trying to cross the street, as the cars always win in a car-human collision.

@angiekaye: Doesn't matter; evidently we're supposed to run on golf courses and in "approved not traffic areas", whatever that means.

@analogkid: I would suggest the greenbelts might be a good place to run; that's where I go most of the time.  When I come to a street crossing, I look both ways, so it doesn't matter how fast a car may be going.  If I step in front of a moving car, I lose.   I'm not blaming anyone here; my point is simply that speed limits don't need to be lowered to 20.  If you step in front of a car going 20 or 40, you will get hurt.
