@SoonerinTXThat had to be difficult losing two so close together. I lost the dog in my profile pic last December to bone cancer. I still cry over him. 4951

It was more than painful. They are family, I know you understand. Such a pretty dog in your pic! 4951

We never take our pups at the same time.  There is no way we could handle that.  One is too hyper and the other is not that fond of new people. You know you have too many animals when the vet gives you a discount. 4951

@SoonersinTXThanks. He was the sweetest boy. I got him from the SPCA when he was about a year old. He had been there for two weeks and I couldn't believe nobody wanted him! I took to writing poems for him to work through the grief:

Two dogs is our limit as well. We prefer medium sized mixed breeds (aka mutts).  Our oldest (14+ years) is gradually becoming blind and deaf.  She still gets a burst of energy every few days and plays like she used to! 4951

...We actually dropped three bills ($300+) on a vet bill for Gunny just yesterday.......$225 of that went for a complete allergy panel........My big 190 pound perfect love-bug has had some type of allergy (food or otherwise) for the past year and a half........We've tried every dang diet and food that's out there, but bless his heart, he just keeps having re-occurring sensitivities... ....So, after exhausting all other options, we decided to finally opt for the blood testing....(Should have the results in about a week or so....)...Anywho, my sweet big handsome typically eats 5 - 7 pounds of meat a day....(No dry food whatsoever...)....And since poultry is a no-go either with him, we basically have to feed him beef and pork.........I also usually cook him eggs in the morning for his breakfast, mixed with some meat.........And I typically mix either fresh baby spinach (sauteed) or french style green beans with his din-din.... (I just feel that a lil' green with all that meat is for him healthy, ya know.....)  ....So, you peeps know the going prices for beef and pork these days....  .....And we go thru 5 - 7 pounds a day...  Yep!  ....  That's a whole lot of meat grub! ....I kid you not.....  ....So, you dudes already know where the majority of our grocery expense straight goes for.........But we'd have it no other way.......These two dudes are our kids... .... They're my boys.........And I love them as such! 4951

We had 3- down to 2. Really 3 wasn't too much more work as 2 of them were older and low energy- we rarely walked them. We miss Brian so- he was just so happy being in the same room and didn't want a thing. I've considering fostering but TJ and Loki have actually taken up some of Brian's personalities and they haven't tried to kill each other recently, so I think we'll wait till TJ passes ( he's 13) and then revisit fostering or adopting another. For now we're really working at more training with Loki- it helps him since he misses his buddy Brian 4951
