Would you protest further? I bought the house in December 2011, I have not made any additions or improvements. @Retired_Engineer: As I undertand it, they increased it from $158k to $174k. They go by the appraised value.

My value went from 138000 to 149000 and the houses are currently listed for 154,000 to 159,000. I don't think I have a leg to stand on, right? 4951

I just moved and my appraisal can't be capped til next year right? It went up 50K since last year. Appraised value and market values are the same. 4951

Protest it now, will be much harder down the road. Unless you are 65 your value can never be capped. 4951

You aren't taxed on the "market value" you are taxed on the "appraisal valve" which for you looks like it went up 16k from 2013 to 2014 unless I'm missing something in your numbers...

they raised it from the $158k to $174k,, and made the appraised value to $200k.. I protested and they made the appraised value to $186k,, but kept the taxes at $174k.I still can protest that. 4951
