Don't quote me on this...but I read (not sure how accurate) most of the old name-brand furniture manufacturers are making their furniture in China (Broyhill, Thomasville, LaZBoy, etc. I found this site that shows the top 10 furniture makers in the US here: http://www.carolina-furniture.com/top-ten.htmI bought a E.J Victor couch back in 96. It's been recovered ONCE. (no kids) It's solid as they come and I paid....hate to say this...but I paid 4200 bucks which included my custom fabric choices. It's deep 48 inches deep...It's amazing and I will never part with it. I recovered it in 07 for 800 bucks! I'll recover it probably in a couple years in RED again! I love it. I also love Henredon. I did suck it up and bought an Ashley Entertainment center. It serves the purpose and I didn't want to spend a whole bunch of clams on it. Looks pretty decent even though it's built with MDF and Ironed/glued veneer. If it gets me 5 years I'd be happy. Crap warps over time especially in humid areas in my experience. I've bought most of my hardcase items at Antique stores over the years. Solid wood and great workmanship. I love to mix and match!!! 4951
@bubbleyes72 Â Aren't you into pretty chairs???? Antiques??? Or am I thinking of another member here?! Â Â
@cgm10sne1: Yes, that would be me! I know of so many nice named brand furniture brands I don't feel like naming them all. I am a guru when it comes to decorating or fashion...... 4951
new furniture or old furniture...some of the new stuff is chinese crap. turn it over and look and you find splinters, bent nails and so forth. the older stuff...drexel, lane and several other brands are good but then you have to inspect it too. 4951
