I don't think it's the location.  JChristophers isn't a good location and it thrives.

I wish they would make it a berry hill and add a front porch.  Or even a sweet tomatoes!

@aggiebutterfly:
We had a berryhill before (where Zachary's is now)and it did not make it. Emoticon

@aggiebutterfly: true,, but most people drive by the place without seeing it,, there are trees and no signs.
when I drive by, I am more concerned about getting hit by someone pulling out, than looking for a restaurant.
That place used to be a mexican place, several years ago,, and it was really good food, but location killed it.

oh well lets try another one.
   It was a Ninfas and family infighting killed it.@KTownTexican: 4951

Ninfas went in and out of bankruptcy in the several decades it has been in business, and had opened and closed several Houston locations. Only the original on Navigation has been there thriving since the very beginning. 4951

Good Luck- hope it makes it. I really do
But it won't work for me- I just don't eat that stuff. The last time I had fried fish was when IKE hit and nothing was opened except the fish place next to Golds. While I was extremely grateful for a hot meal and it was pretty good- it's just not what I normally eat. In my experience places like Fish Tales can do fried well or grilled well or both mediocre and not both well and usually it's the grilled that suffers. Thanks I'd rather spend my $$ on wild caught from HEB or Texas City Dike and prepare it how I want at home. I was excited to try F2M and waiting for them to work out the kinks which they never seem to do 4951

My wife and I tried Fish Tales restaurant tonight.  We tried the boudain balls, fried green tomatoes, then the small fish plate.  Boudain balls:  Almost no taste.  Mostly rice.Fried Green Tomatoes:  Pretty good. Fried Catfish:  Big problem.  The flesh was not white like catfish is                            supposed to be.  It was slightly pink but  it was                            thoroughly cooked.  The edges were very chewy.                             I've never had chewy catfish before.  Foreign                            catfish or something besides catfish?Cocktail Sauce:  Almost spit out my first taste.  Nasty.Service:  OK.  The male server spoke so softly we could not hear him.I looked for someone to talk to as we left.  There was absolutely no one in the front and all the servers had disappeared.  We will NOT go back. 4951

I will give most ANYTHING a chance, I will NOT go back to Fish Tales, Cat fish was terrible, shrimp was from China & lacked flavor, hated the batter, the only thing that was good was the fried pickles. I SO WISH IT WERE GOOD! ......but it just wasn't  4951

@Haybugg:   I agree.  We NEED a good catfish house around here.  If you go north an hour or two, there are lots of them.  North LA and Arkansas also have plenty of good catfish houses.

Sudie's Catfish House on the Gulf Freeway in League City is excellent. The original location is on Spencer Highway in Pasadena. I think they had a location on the north side of Houston somewhere but I believe it is no longer open for some reason. 4951

Sudie's is the BEST and it's well worth the drive to Pasadena. There was one @ 45 and Airtex, where Mamacita's is now, but unfortunately, that location didn't make it.  Susie's is just a unique concept of hometown neighborhood country dive that's not much on decor but serves the best catfish in the area.  It sort of has a Trigg's Humble Inn charm to it and that concept just didn't make it for some reason on 45N.   4951

I used to work in Deer Park and had gone to Sudie's one time for a long lunch.  I loved it.  My wife and I drove to Pasadena years ago to go to Sudie's.   Surprise, they weren't open.  I think they had shut-down temporarily for either repairs or remodeling.  It's worth it to drive an hour to go there, but the distance makes it a pain to go regularly.  I think a drive to Pasadena is in our near-future! 4951
