Since my son is a bit older now, we just decorate the table instead of a basket.  We put the grass in the middle, like a centerpiece and put all of the goodies in the grass.  Worked great until we adopted two rescue kittens, and they decided they like to eat Easter grass.  Not good.  4951

Sounds like a good idea. My youngest kids are all teenagers now. I was informed easter baskets were not cool but cash was acceptable. Might just tell them there is cash in the easter basket and if they can find it they can split it....sit back and watch how it unravels.... 4951

Instead of cash, get them the reloadable Visa gift cards.  They can spend it anywhere.  Mine likes pulling it out like it was his very own Visa card.  We put is allowance on there, or whenever he needs extra cash, it's easier than trying to find an ATM.  4951

@landladyMy son still likes to get an Easter basket with candy and money.  I usually throw in a couple of new t-shirts. 4951

T-shirts are a good idea. Last year I got them gift cards to their favorite stores. Year before I did the visa gift cards. I was also thinking of going somewhere as a family, but can't think of anywhere. If the weather is nice we will probably end up on the lake, the kids love wakeboarding. 4951

@KtownTexican - I was thinking the same thing. If they are too old for baskets and candy, isn't that when you stop giving them a gift? They expect money for Easter? I thought it was a very religious holiday. 4951

@jls2: No one is ever too old for candy. That's what my 14 year old DD gets on Easter. But she has graduated to fine chocolate. Well, fine chocolate and Sour Patch Kids. Plus a church service reminding her what it's all about, which is the most important thing.

@donnatella: It'll be really, really funny though when it comes out the other end.  Emoticon

I will probably always give my son an Easter gift, even when he's grown.  My Mom still does that for me, so until he says stop (not likely) I will continue as long as I am able.  It's true, I spoil him rotten, but he's a good kid.  4951

@Nurse3:
Yeah, that's not so funny when it happens.  It does NOT break down in their system, so they don't understand when they potty, why it doesn't detach.  That's exactly why we stopped putting it on the table and now put it on the bar and keep it covered when we are not around.  We also spray around it with the cat repelant, so they aren't tempted.  4951
