I detest WalMart. I have given it a try a couple of times, but I always tell myself never again.  I just end up in a foul mood whenever I go there.  I LOVE Target, I will happily pay a few more dollars for a much more pleasant shopping experience.

Guess who Walmart employs.  They aren't aliens or clones or androids.  Those employees are neighborhood people. 4951

Heck, Everything in Walmart is made in China.  What the heck is wrong with selling American made stuff??  It is noting more than an outlet for th People's Republic of China.They are killing are pets also with their Chinese pet food and treats.BUY AMERICAN.  It keeps you and your neighbor working.   4951

Ummmmm, I feed my dogs treats and dog food that I buy from Walmart...and, OMG they are still alive!!!  Granted, I probably did not feed them the contaminated treats though.. lol....   I think going to Walmart is definitely the cheapest and most convenient that I have found.  I would go to Target, but I am all about saving $$$.....Also, my dog food is SO SO SO much cheaper at Walmart than any other store, other than maybe Sam's (oh, and Sam's is basically Bulk Walmart).  That, and I drink a lot of Diet Coke, and tend to find that it is cheaper at Walmart than anywhere else also.I do not enjoy grocery/household shopping, and love the fact that I can get everything in one place.... 4951

I'm not a bit Walmart fan myself, but there are few other stores that carry necessities at an affordable price. Especially in this economy, there's just no choice for a lot of people. Target is trying to be more "trendy" (and certainly more pleasant to shop in) but they still have a lot of the basic cheap Chinese goods...just "gussied up" I'm just amused at how much xrapmis available these days--how many kinds of cereal, laundry detergents, Barbie dolls, notebooks, etc....do there RESLLY need to be? 4951

People think that Walmart has the cheapest prices, but I can always find better deals elsewhere. You just have to know where to look.

@ganderif: Exactly!!  We only get frozen veggies there now.

I had to stop taking my daughter to Walmart.  It is always too loud and busy.  She has sensory issues and gets "lost" in all the hulla ballou. Last time we went to the Porter Walmart with her, a man kept staring at her and following us around.  I finally said something to him and he commented on how beautiful she was.  Needless to say, we didn't stay there.I like to take her with me when I go grocery shopping so she can learn about food.  She loves picking out new veggies to try and she is learning to try new things, etc.  Walmart is just too overcrowded and loud. 4951

>> When I was growing up, it was always K-Mart.If we did department store shopping, it was always K-Mart, specially for back-to-school.We had to drive clear across town (about 6 miles) to go to our local K-Mart.And mom made us listen out for those "blue light specials" we might need and can save a dollar or two more.Wal-Mart isn't such a stretch today from K-Mart.Also if no one liked Wal-Mart, they would not be in business.

@FoFa:

We have Super Kmart in Ohio. And I see the commercials down here but there isn't one right?

@mpjp0907: I think the only one in our region ( driving distance) is Lufkin?

I don't like that Walmart causes little mom-and-pop stores to shut down, but that is modern economy at work.  I also agree that their "associates" are typically not knowledgeable about their products.  When I go to Walmart, it is because they have the best price on an item(s) that I need/want to buy.   If I need advice on a product before I buy it, I will go somewhere where the employees are more knowledgeable.  Love it or hate it, Walmart is here to stay, at least until some other super store comes along and puts them out of business (which is unlikely). 4951

The closest Kmart I know of is in Ft. Hood. I HATE HATE HATE walmart...it ruins my whole day if i have to go there so i want till late to go. I try to go to target but sometimes they close too early. Comparing numerous things, walmart is the most expensive...on everything... especially dog food and groceries. I only go there for odd and ends and always spend $50, even if i only needed 1 item...and the only price scanner in the entire Porter store is in grocery...really?...i asked an associate for a price because she had a...get this...PRICE SCANNER!!! but she said we had to go all the way from automotive to food...so i make a point if something isnt marked to find 30 other items not marked and leave them by the price scanner...i know im mean in that sense but really walmart?..cummon... 4951
