Just curious to what dog food you feed your dogs. It seems like some places make you feel like a bad pet owner if you don't feed your dogs the 60 dollar a bag stuff. What do you guys feed your dogs ? We were giving our dog Blue Buffalo wilderness but it was to rich and he pooped way to much. So now we give him Purina One and he is fine. Thanks 4951

I was giving our Holly Iams, grain-free dry food, mixed with a little Alpo prime cuts wet food, but she would pick out the wet and only come back to the dry if she was really hungry.

I just switched to Pure Balance "Wild & Free" Bison and Pea (also grain-free) over the weekend (bought at Walmart - about $20 for an 11 lb-bag), and I still mix with a little of Alpo - she has devoured every bowl so far. Guess the girl likes her bison! 4951

I've tried from the cheapest to expensive. My big dog wouldn't eat regularly. We were throwing bowls of food out. Now we feed her the pure balance  wet  & dry. No problems anymore. 4951

Read the bag, a lot of dog food brands have a bunch of non-nutritional filler so what you think is a good deal is sometimes not.  You can tell by the amount of food they say to give the dog daily.  There is quite a spread out there and the more you feed the more you shovel.  We use Iams, seems to be a good mix of cost per serving size.  Three dogs, all healthy and reasonably trim. 4951

Hills Science Diet, is the only dry food we have found that my dog will eat regularly, we tried other brands but I guess my mutt is a snob and wouldn't eat the other brands. 4951

Both of my dogs eat Pedigree. I've tried so many that they didn't like. I do like this one because it has a teeth cleaning agent in it so their breath is awesome now. LOL 4951

Dog foods range from great to not so great. Some of the foods dogs like the best are like 'Cap'n Crunch' in my opinion. You should at least know what you are paying for. Check it out:http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/I buy Fromm's Four star Nutritionals Whitefish and Potato(dry) most of the time but once in a while switch to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream (dry). 4951

@2danesI agree, a lot of places and dog food companies try to shame you into buying the really expensive dog foods. I remember reading somewhere that some of those foods have not been around long enough to do accurate studies on them. I feed my boys Purina Pro Plan for sensitive skin and stomachs, still about $40 a bag. I have also fed them Science Diet and Iams. 30 years ago, before all these new wildly expensive foods were around, I fed my dogs Purina Dog Chow from the grocery store and they were just as healthy.  4951

That is a loaded question on this forum.Mine eat Purina Dog Chow. One is 12 and doing just fine, the other is 6 and doing just fine.Sure I have to feed the big one 3 cups instead of 2 1/2, but she likes more than less. When she was a puppy, we gave then high protein really good stuff, but Heidi will pretty much eat only Purina (she is the picky one).So they get that. 4951

@2danes: I have used River Run,, I buy it at Knox Berry Farm, going towards Porter. We switched from the store brands because, the store brands were costing to much, and the dogs were pooping more. River Run is great, the dogs eat a big scoop a day. They don't poop as much. Its healthier. I pay about $35 and change,, for 50 lbs.

@2danes: i fed kirkland lamb and rice for years and years.. it is great food.the dogs were healthy with sleek glossy coats and they would eat it dry. the only trouble was having todrive to costcoto get it. that will be solved shortly when they open the new costco at 45 and 242
